9th Region Draw is OUT

Featured Replies

My crystal ball isn't showing me the final outcome yet, but it is telling me that just about anything can happen. The 9th Region is always full of surprises so it wouldn't surprise me at all if neither the Bulldogs or the Blue Colonels end up in the finals. Sure it's likely that at least one of these two teams will get there, but there are six, well five, other teams quite cabable of knocking off of the two powers if they're caught looking past them. As always, the 9th Region tournament isn't written in stone and that's what makes it so exciting. It's the greatest time of the year BABY!!!

Beat me to this comment--CovCath cruises to the finals, while Holmes has a couple of tough outs in NCC (teams with good big men are tough matchups for the Bulldogs) and St. Henry (nine seniors and a very savvy coach)!!

I think that CovCath will not cruise to the finals either. Conner is an improving ball club, and could pose as a threat, as well as the winner of Highlands and Dixie. Dixie almost pulled out the win against CovCath in there last meeting. Also, as it is with both Highlands and Dixie, they are rivals with CovCath, causing them to probably want to beat CovCath even more.

I guess your right, but on paper nobody on Cov. Cath's side should be within 10-15 of Cov. Cath.

This may be true. But, why play the games and tournaments if they are played on paper. Any team has a possibility of beating CovCath, and for that matter, winning region and going to Rupp.

I feel the biggest chance for an upset would be second round with St. Henry beating Holmes. Ever since St. Henry beat CCH I’ve felt they are a much better team than most give them credit for. With the SR leadership and a good coach don’t be surprised to see SH in the finals on Tuesday.

I agree, but thats why i said on paper, I did not say that is the way it would exactly go down, but i do think its is a great possiblilty.

This is the worst 9th region has been in quite some time. The 36th is downright bad, and the 34th isn't much better. St. Henry and Boone County have been on a slide, but Dixie has been getting stronger. But who knows what will happen? After all, its been one crazy year.

St. Henry and Boone County have been on a slide, .

Boone's slide has caused them to not make the regional.

Duh, on me.

Covington Catholic to win the 9th.

I honestly think that Dixie has a great chance of winning the region. They have really come on in the past couple of weeks

I think "Aubery Carter",lol, and the bunch will beat Highlands and be routed by Cov Cath.

Willie will have Highlands ready for Dixie.

HHS - 52

DHS - 48

I honestly don't think they can, but stranger things have happened. Don't see how you can say they came on strong the last few weeks? They finished the season losing 4 of their last 5, and 10 of their last 15? Losses to Boone, Campbell, CCH and Scott with the only win over Ryle--They did win their district with wins over Villa and Lloyd, but I wouldn't hang my hat on that?? Probably favored over Highlands, but don't be surprized to see them playing baseball after that game. Hope they win, but realistically think they (and several others) have little chance.

Predictions:

Holmes 54- NCC- 52

St. Henry- 60- Lloyd 48

Highlands- 52 Dixie 47

Cov. Cath 66- Conner 65

2nd round

Holmes- 50 St. Henry 46

Cov. Cath 51- Highlands- 44

Finals

Holmes 59- Cov. Cath 58

Holmes NC should be a heck of a first round game to watch. I think Holmes will win the region but I'd love to see Cov Cath's Student section at Rupp again.
