I've read many boards that said whenever Tubby was hired, they thought they would kill themselves. Maybe they did... but after he won the championship in '98, did you still think that? Did you think you had a one of the best coaches in the country and proud to have him? I would hardly doubt that your first thoughts were, "man, he won with Rick's players."

Thoughts of Tubby, after he gave his speech in '98, I thought to myself, "what a great man."

I was happy for him because I think and thought he was a class guy. I sure didn't think that 10 years later we would be 5th in the SEC east and losing 10 games every other year.

The problems that has happened to Tubby is when he started losing some of his assistants, and he didn't replace those assitants that left to be head coaches with more good assistants. And that is the thing that has hurt him the most...

He didn't win it the year before what makes you think he would have got to the Final Four?

I know this is a touchy issue with many fans but I don't think Rick thought he could do what you allege he would do. He left and TOOK MERCER to the pros. He lost in 97 with Mercer so I doubt he would have won without him in 98 but who really knows? Rick never ceases to amaze me.

Excellent point. I think Tubby's a good coach, but I definately think it's time for him to get a fresh start somewhere. Better for him and the program.
