Good teams find a way to get it done!!!

Thats makes UK 20-1,is that right? If Vandy won yesterday,I think their record is something like 21-0. Now that will be a series when these two meet.

The Hogs took the rubber match today, 14-5.

I know that Arkansas has a very good team , but perhaps the cupcake pre-conference schedule has not gotten the cats ready for the caliber of play they will be seeing in the SEC grind?

Yes and no. The cupcake schedule was in place last year as well and you see that Kentucky had a pretty solid season. The biggest problem this year is no Collin Cowgill. His bat and defense are irreplaceable in the lineup and he hasn't played an inning. Because of that, Antone DeJesus was getting no protection at the leadoff spot in the lineup and his numbers have suffered. Add to that the overall lack of power this season compared to last and you've basically got a team that isn't quite as good. This UK team really needs to hold on for the next couple of weeks until Cowgill gets back.

Maybe a little bit. Arkansas' pitching was really good and they had some clutch hitting. Arkansas had 2 guys on and they'd hit a bleeder or gapper. UK had 2 guys on and would get a backwards 'K'. Cohen ended up getting tossed because he was tired of watching called third strikes. Seemed a little off the plate to me but...

I was thinking a little more on the line of what has happened to the pitching staff now that they have entered conference play, than what they are doing at the plate. To me, the games are still won and lost on the mound. This was a very untypical Drombowski outing compared to last season.

Its probably too early to judge the pitchers, but if they struggle next weekend, Cohen might need to juggle the rotation. Dombrowski will be fine, though. Just a tough weekend. But still, they didn't get swept.

I agree that the missing link is Cowgill. However, you could not ask for a better performance from Kipnis in stepping in for him. Kipnis has been phenomenal this season and I think you'll see his bat in the lineup somewhere even when Cowgill returns.

Nice to see the Cats get back to the winning way.

Who they got this week in SEC play?

LSU is next, I believe. In Baton Rouge.

The Bat Cats travel to Baton Rouge for a 3 game series with LSU. The series kicks off tonight at 8:00. Tough place to play but this would be a HUGE SEC series victory...GO CATS!!!

Chris Rusin will be on the mound for the cats.
