Worst Fields

Silver Grove

silver Grove's field is not as bad as it used to be. The new dugouts and concession stand make it look like a baseball field. At least until you walk on it and figure out it is not level. If it rains on a sunday we don't play on the field until thursday. This year we had to take down our pitching mound because we have to share it with the softball team. So we will have a portable pitching mound (similar to St. Pats).

Some of the other bad ones that I've seen in my days of scoring baseball games are Jackson County (actually the two they've used....the one in Sand Gap where the dugouts where less than five feet from the basepath & the one they use now that they call "The Ballpark at Tyner" which has some sort of shallow, thin ditch that's just beyond first base), Bell County (don't know if they've fixed it or not but their field used to barbed wire around the top of the outfield fence), Williamsburg (anytime you have a city park as your home field then you're asking for that title), & Knox Central (refer to to Williamsburg).

I loved the big rock in right field at Bell , metal spikes across that thing was no fun. Barb wire was a little odd also.

If it hasn't changed since last year than yes it is terrible.

Does NCC have a better field in Silver Grove than Silver Grove does or does Silver Grove play at Moscher also?

Believe it or not but Silver Groves field is worse than Moscher.

NCC has a better field in Silver Grove then Silver Grove does in Silver Grove!!!! Figure that one out. It's only taken us 20 years to get dugouts put in. Yes and our field still looks like it does last year. Crappy!!

Buckhorn's field isn't as bad as these field's posted on here, but I just think its funny that the entire infield slopes to the left(I think) and yet they still host region despite other problems with it. Them hosting region isn't the best idea. IMO.

Big Rock? I played infield, so I dont know about it, but none of our outfielders ever said anything about a rock. Just that our outfield was pretty bad b/c the football team practiced on it for a while.

i remember a field that i had seen but is no longer used and that is wolfe co. old field the worst field i have ever played on but heard they got a better one coming this season.

Wolfe's field was pretty bad.

It was right past the foul line, where the field slope down a bit towards the fence. I went after a foul ball one day and nearly killed myself.

Maybe somebody can help me out on this..

I remember playing at a field where there was a tree stump in deep center field and a telephone pole in the middle of right field. Maybe Harrodsburg?

Without a doubt, Beechwood has the worst field in Northern Kentucky if not the entire state. The powers that be should be absolutely embarassed to have games played on that field. There is no fence, tiny dugouts, a dirt infield, no decent seating, etc. It is amazing that the Tigers have been able to post 135+ wins in the last four years with basically no home field.

That is definitely correct.

I was going to post about that one.

I remember when I was a freshman at keeping the book for Rockcastle County and we had to go there. We got lost and found someone to give us directions to the field.....it was none other than Dennis Johnson....LOL. As far as the game went, Rockcastle County won in a landslide and the pitcher, Mickey McClure, threw his first career no-hitter there.....the reason why I remember that part is because the umpire stopped the bus and gave Mickey the game ball and the line-up cards for both teams.....LOL.....oh those were the days!!!
