February 28, 200719 yr take Oakland for example... for starters they need a new owner, and if not available, they could also use a football team... This will sound pretty cold, but the death of Al Davis would be the best offseason move that could happen for Raider Nation.
March 1, 200719 yr Author I'm not sure how much NFL you watch but all of those teams have bigger needs than QB... I know you know football better than that! I think if you ask the majority of people that watch the NFL or any football they are going to tell you that your number one priority position is QB. A pass rushing Defensive End and a 10 year left tackle would come in behind them but you better have a QB! Oakland????? We've got a chance to be their QB! Detroit... Is Kitna your franchise QB? McCown was playing WR in scout drills at the end of the year! Cleveland.. Fry is OK but I don't know about a franchise QB. The jury is out but it doesn't look to great! Tampa Bay... Simms is questionable if he will be able to have a future in the NFL and Grankowski would scare me as my franchise QB! Washington... Campbell has potential and Brunell graciously restructured his contract so they will pass. Minn. Cut Brad Johnson so it's Tevarious Jackson or bust. Once again unproven. Houston.. Trying to shop Carr with Rosenfalls his backup! Good luck there too! Miami... Culpepp hasn't finished a season in a couple of years so it's on Joey Harrington. That looks better than the 9 teams in front of them! I agree that all those teams have other needs but good luck in the NFL with no QB. Personally I would trade down to get picks around number 15 or so. Then you could still have a pick, trade a 1st+3rd rounder for Shaub and get the best of both worlds. Schaub and Quin both have a lot of potential but that way you still get a 1st round pick and Schaub.
March 1, 200719 yr Author Most of the things I read have Oakland taking Russell first and not Quinn, so no your not going out on a big limb.... That's one pick. Tell me what teams in the top 10 don't need a QB?
March 1, 200719 yr Author GT I know we talked about Dre Bly a few weeks ago. I heard that he might be as easy to get as a 5th round pick! Rumor is that the Broncos might be the team that lands him. We talked about having Madden corners..... Champ Bailey and Dre Bly wouldn't be too shabby along with Lynch playing behind them!

March 1, 200719 yr Author There isn't a franchise QB in the draft. It's wasting a pick... I'm not going to argue with you on that one because I'm not sure there is either. We never know until years down the road (Tom Brady late) but Russell seems to have the tools and Quinn the potential. Personally I'd trade the picks unless I was getting Calvin Johnson (WR's are easy to find but he's a freak) or the left tackle from Wisconson and Peterson. There are still a lot of teams in that top 10 that will have a hard time passing on a QB with the shape they are in at the QB position. If they pass and he works out then they really look like an idiot. Bottom line for me is that a lot of folks had him the #1 pick before the workouts. By chosing not to workout and letting the scouts go on film alone, he REALLY hurt his draft stock I think! Michigan State's QB has looked good along with Kolb from Houston. The sleeper at QB is the kid from Stanford.
March 1, 200719 yr That's one pick. Tell me what teams in the top 10 don't need a QB? I didn't say that, I said the teams in the top 5 have bigger needs than a QB. I do believe Quinn will go in the top 10 though. Im just saying most of the mock drafts also dont have Quinn in the top 5. So that is why I say your not going out on a big limb, because alot of people are thinking Quinn wont be top 5 now...

Whatever size limb makes you feel good is fine with me. I'm pretty easy going. I honestly think he hurt himself so bad not working out that he might not even make the top 10. A LOT of people had him #1 going into the combines. The Vikings dropping Johnson might have helped him and Miami is looking at trading for a QB possibly so that might be a shot. Everyone of those teams could use a franchise QB so that is a lot of teams passing on a guy that was looked at as a franchise QB.
March 1, 200719 yr There isn't a franchise QB in the draft. It's wasting a pick... :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: Your right on with that statement... If I had the first pick overall I would take Calvin Johnson in a heartbeat..
March 1, 200719 yr Author From what I've heard what's hurt him off the field is not participating in the Senior Bowl, and on the field it's his ability to throw the intermediate routes. And I don't understand why everyone is so excited about Schaub a 1-1 td to interception ratio, and a very poor record as a starter (not sure of the exact numbers) Schaub is a gamble too but a safer one than most of the QB's in this draft and an upgrade for almost all the teams with the top 10 picks.
