I think it's interesting all the trading and trade possibilities going on. Usually there aren't that many big trades in the NFL.

I know someone might bring out Captain Obvious on me right here but Calvin Johnson from Georgia Tech is the best player in the draft. Should be the #1 pick. Has great size, great hands and has speed that you just cant teach. If I have the need for a QB and I am picking 1st, I still take Johnson.

BTW, I also believe that Quinn goes to the Lions at the #2 spot. Even though they need all the help they can get, Quinn seems like he would be a good fit to go here.

Seeing that a lot of people have him first then yes I am. Russell will be the first pick unless the Raiders make a deal for a QB where they can get Johnson. You also have teams at the top that need multiple players that could trade the pick. Just because they are in a slot doesn't mean they draft there ya know!

 

Name one person that has Quinn first, because all the draft boards I have seen (granted not very many) have him as the 7th best prospect in the draft. Unless you are looking at the Notre Dame prospect board, i don't your right on this one.

I'm not going to argue with you on that one because I'm not sure there is either. We never know until years down the road (Tom Brady late) but Russell seems to have the tools and Quinn the potential. Personally I'd trade the picks unless I was getting Calvin Johnson (WR's are easy to find but he's a freak) or the left tackle from Wisconson and Peterson. There are still a lot of teams in that top 10 that will have a hard time passing on a QB with the shape they are in at the QB position. If they pass and he works out then they really look like an idiot.

Bottom line for me is that a lot of folks had him the #1 pick before the workouts. By chosing not to workout and letting the scouts go on film alone, he REALLY hurt his draft stock I think!

Michigan State's QB has looked good along with Kolb from Houston.

Moose Johnson just said yesterday that he still thought he was the number one pick. I'm not saying Moose sets the world on fire but there is your one!!!

You are nuts if you don't think some people didn't have him #1 before the combines!!!! I'm not going to continues to argue that one because neither of us are going to change our thoughts on that one!

With the run on RB's and the Schaub deal I now think he will go top 10 and possibly as early as 2 or 3 unless the Bucs trade up then it might be 4.

He didn't work out at the combine and it is going to hurt him. He sent film from Notre Dame working out with his guys there. Big difference in working out on your home field with your guys and he didn't look to great at that.

The true competitors went out and worked out in front of the NFL coaches and that is going to hurt him.

They are also finding that he missed a ton of open WR's this year when they started breaking down film on him. By him not working out in front of the coaches he is getting the reputation of not being confident in what he brings to the table.

Perfect example... Calvin Johnson! He had NO reason to go out and prove what he could do but because he is such a competitor he borrowed somebody's shoes and ran a 4.38 I think it was.

 

On a side note it's been said Jamarcus Russell could throw a ball 83-84 yards!!!!!!

The "shoe" story on Calvin Johnson (as he told it on Cold Pizza) was that he saw a guy running the 40 in tennis shoes. He asked the guy what size shoe he wore and it turned out to be the same size Johnson wore (15). Johnson then gave the guy his shoes to wear for his 40 time and when Johnson got them back, the media assumed that Johnson was borrowing shoes from someone else. Great story and as you said C. Johnson is a great competitor.

I now think he goes top 5 probably to the Lions or Browns. If he stays around for Minn or Miami then those are possibilities too in the top 10. Carr+Plummer might still have some say so in what happens with the draft. I think it's interesting that the Bucs want Johnson but after losing the coin flip there is speculation that teams will trade up in front of them to get him. There is a lot of talk that the Lions could trade with the Bucs from 2 to 4 which would give Tampa Calvin if the Raiders don't take him and the Lions could get their man they wanted and a couple of second round picks if they trade the Bucs.

There is also a lot of talk about Atl getting Landry or possibly even moving down to get Okoya which would make a lot of sense with the Lville connection.
