I was trying to think of that, what was the DNA matched up against, how can it be proven. It's been a long debate between science and religion, goodness knows what this will do to that debate with whatever comes out of this.

I don't think the religion would have exploded like it has if one could easily walk into the tomb and see His body. Also, if you believe that that Jesus was not brought back from the dead, then would you also conclude that in order to further their agenda, the disciples, or another follower, would have at the very least hid Jesus's body?

Some people already believe they hid his body.

What an absolute joke. DNA evidence. How laughable. How in the world do you identify the remains of any commoner that died 2000 years ago, let alone someone who from what Cameron says was in hiding? This is a really poor rebuttal of Christiananity and will only serve to put James Cameron with the UFO crowd.

I agree HHS. There is no way this is legit.

They used DNA to compare the bodies to each other not to prove who they were.

I agree and it is sad how the media is going to try and make Christians look to be ignorant again (and again...and again...and again....).

So what does that prove?

James Cameron is pretty well known for the amount of research he puts into his films. This goofiness is quite surprising.

Read the article. Cameron is an entertainer, and the media in this case portrayed HIM as ignorant, not Christians.

Ever the showman, (Why does this remind me of the impresario in another movie,"King Kong", whose hubris blinds him to the dangers of an angry and very large ape?) Cameron is holding a New York press conference on Monday at which he will reveal three coffins, supposedly those of Jesus of Nazareth, his mother Mary and Mary Magdalene.

If true, you couldn't access a media outlet, TV, conversation and radio....Withouth this being the only discussion point.

Poor choice of topics, to discuss in jest, per the link.

IMVHO this is just another example of the double standard that now exists when discussing religions. Had Cameron found evidence that he claimed proves Mohammed was a total fraud how many networks would air it? After the fiasco with the cartoons and the ensuing riots I would doubt that there would be many willing to take the chance. They would claim it was out of respect for Muslims. How come the same respect is not given when someone tries to disprove the central theme of the Christian faith? Maybe it's because Christians are not likely to take to the streets and kill people over this.

This explains things a little better.

Though the bones had long since been reburied elsewhere, as was the custom, tiny traces of DNA left in the caskets were tested.

The results for the coffins labelled Jesus and Mariamne showed the two were not related by blood, leading Cameron and his team to conclude they were married.

I am not saying this is "The" Jesus's tomb. But you have to admit what they found is pretty interresting. And if it is determined this is what they say it is then you may want to go buy stock in yarmulkes.
