Hollywood hates Christians so much they will do anything to destroy it.

Some people will take this film as the truth, because someone famous like this must know what he is talking about. Then the "Big Lie" (used by Hitler so well) will be repeated and repeated, until many will accept it as the truth.

MrRk and I were having this exact conversation last night. What if he was married? What if he did have a child? It makes not difference or at least it doesn't make any difference to us. It makes no differenct to me if you are fat or skinny, black or white, gay or straight, rich or poor. It's what you do on this earth to make a difference and trust me "he" made the biggest difference of all and how very grateful I am for that.

Yes, it would make a difference. He made plans while on the cross for his mother.

 

Yet, he made NO PLANS according to Scripture to make sure a wife and child was provided for after his death.

 

Changes the view of a caring Savior who left this world with no thoughts of a wife or child.

 

He knew his lot in life and how his death would happen. It would have been VERY SELFISH for him to be married and a father and knowing that he would leave his child fatherless. Especially considering he told us that if we harm one hair on a child's head it would be better to hang a millstone around our neck.

 

Jesus knowing what and when his life would end and leaving a fatherless child to fend for himself, DOES NOT mesh with the Savior I have grown to know or love.

 

Yes, it ABSOLUTELY DOES change the story.

My question is, why would his mother Mary and Mary Magdelene be buried in the same tomb? Jesus was not buried in a family tomb. He was buried in Joseph of Arimethia's tomb. I doubt that his mother and another woman that was of no relation would have been buried in that same tomb.

 

My pastor made a point about this yesterday at church. He said that the custom was that the body would decompose for about a year and after a year they would take the bones and put them in a box in the family tomb. Thus leaving room for the next person to be entombed. Why would the disciples have risked their lives to proclaim something that could have easily been proven wrong? Am I going to go out and say that my friend or relative rose from the dead if they could exhume the body? Absolutely not!

Save for one, LOST THEIR LIVES for something that could have easily been proven wrong would be a more accurate representation of what occurred.

If this tv show was as important as they made it out to be, then why didn't it air on one of the major tv channels, such as ABC, NBC, or CBS on Primetime Television?

Just to add a little to what you've said, if you disregard the wife and child aspect and think about the remains of Jesus...that would completely deny the Gospel and disprove our faith. As Paul wrote...

 

1 Corinthians 15:14, 17-19

And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty...And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.

What an absolute joke. DNA evidence. How laughable. How in the world do you identify the remains of any commoner that died 2000 years ago, let alone someone who from what Cameron says was in hiding? This is a really poor rebuttal of Christiananity and will only serve to put James Cameron with the UFO crowd.

There is 100% chance that James Cameron did not find Jesus. Seriously that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Well maybe since Cameron found Jesus's DNA he could use it to clone Jesus, and bring about the much awaited second comming.

I've stayed out of this one until now, and for the most part you folks have covered the bases admirably. I just have a couple of observations...

 

As much as we have venerated His name since, the name “Jesus” was actually quite common back in the day. For Cameron to claim to have unearthed the bones of someone named Jesus is akin to digging around on the outskirts of Mexico City and getting excited about finding the grave of someone named Pedro, or researching a U.S. Motel registry from the 1940’s and finding that “John Smith” stayed there. (Yes, the name “Mary” was quite common back when as well.)

 

I do find it to be terribly careless for what must have been otherwise “crafty” apostles to be so sloppy as to leave a box full of pseudo-Savior bones laying around… much less with His name in big bold print on the side. I mean, you go to all the trouble of leaving your home and families to hit the road to spread a lie disguised as good news… even playing to role to the extent of healing the sick and giving sight to the blind, it seems to me you could find a permanent way of covering your tracks.

 

You cannot go around spouting the beatitudes and claiming that Jesus was a great teacher, but He was just another man who is buried somewhere without divine attributes while claiming to be a Christian. In this regard, I agree with C.S. Lewis:

 

A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic - on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg - or he would be the devil of hell. You must take your choice. Either this was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronising nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.

We live in a culture of mix-and-match religions. Take a little of this and a little of that, toss in some "feel good" and you have yourself a cozy belief system. That's fine if that's what you truly want for yourself, but if you don't believe that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, was eventually crucified, died physically on the cross, was buried in a tomb as dead, and arose from the dead on the third day... I'm sorry, call me fussy, but you're not truly a Christian.

 

The fact is that 12 men were so convinced that Jesus Christ is exactly who He said He was and is, 11 were willing to suffer horrible deaths as martyrs for the faith. The 12th spent his final years in a cave writing of things to come, so that none would be lost willing to be found. It seems to me that at least one of these would have cracked if they knew it to be a great lie.

 

I doubt seriously that James Cameron is as confident of his claims as the Apostles were of theirs. It would make for some interesting television if he were however…
