February 20, 200719 yr A first ballot Hall-of-Famer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enough said!!!!!!!!!!!!! At first blush, I'd agree. However, I'd think that Griffey's last 7 or 8 years could hurt his cause.
February 20, 200719 yr A first ballot Hall-of-Famer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enough said!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not in the Reds Hall of Fame!
February 20, 200719 yr Now maybe he won't get all the love...and Cincy's loyalty...so the Reds can turn the corner in their outfield.
February 21, 200719 yr And he's been crucified in the media for it. He's the perfect role model for kids who love the game, and gets treated like garbage from his own fans and media. He deserves better IMO. Griffey doesn't talk to fans. Not kids, adults, NOBODY!!
February 21, 200719 yr 100% different. As the article states, this was right after Bronson was traded here -- not after being raised here and living much of his life here with his father being a local sports legend. And I don't bleme Aurillia or any of the other players for not being happy when the Reds are losing. Who would be? Ken Griffey Jr. was playing major league baseball in Seattle by the time he was 18. He played there for the majority of his career, at times with his father. He's now back in Cincinnati, but I have no problem if he does not consider this Cincinnati his home. Why would he? He's lived in Orlando for as long as I can remember. And to excuse Rich Aurilia's actions & comments because the Reds were losing is a little shocking, especially when he was supposed to be one of the leaders in the clubhouse. With attitudes like that (from both the fans & the players), I don't see why we can't get back in the pennant race?

I can't begin to fathom why anyone would want a player to think otherwise. But other players have nothing to do with the Griffy situation, and that's what we're focusing on. Griff's always been a bit of a whiner, and that's part of what turns people off about him.
February 21, 200719 yr Author When he was becoming the best player in the world his HOMETOWN supported him more than any place in the nation next to Seattle. When word broke he was and WANTED to come HOME it was one of the most energetic days in Cincinnati history. Because of a) injuries and b) his boorish attitude towards the fans that love him the tide turned. I've been behind him for a long time but this touched a nerve...
February 21, 200719 yr I've often wondered if Griffey would have stayed in Seattle if he would have been the one chasing Aaron instead of Bonds? Junior was basically the best in the league before coming to Cinci, and everything has fell apart since.
February 21, 200719 yr Griffey doesn't talk to fans. Not kids, adults, NOBODY!! I've seen him do it numerous times.....

I was thinking along those same lines.....Why does it bother people that he doesn't feel that Cincinnati is his home. I know I live in one city and work in another. I don't consider the city I work in my hometown. No different if you ask me.
February 21, 200719 yr Why does it bother people that he doesn't feel that Cincinnati is his home.Maybe because...it is.
