February 21, 200719 yr My first thought is that Norv has to be thanking the Cowboys for not taking him despite the players wanting him. He just inherited possibly the best team in the NFL! Norv didn't do so well as a head coach but neither did the folks that proceeded him. He is known for being a great offensive coach that is about as good as they come when it comes to making the most out of the skill positions when he has elite players there. I think it's an interesting hire. I think his success will depend on who he surrounds himself with. Let's be realistic, most of us could X+O for the Chargers! Handoff to Tomlinson, hand off to Tomlinson, pass to Tomlinson, handoff to Tomlinson, play action to Gates, hand off to Tomlinson, half back pass from Tomlinson to Gates for the TD!

February 21, 200719 yr I think that's the thing he has to overcome too. I saw the 49er players saying they didn't want to lose him so who knows. I know Troy, Emmitt, Irvine and Moose all went to bat for him when the Cowboys job was open. Right now in my mind he is one of those guys that is just a better coordinator than a head coach. That's no knock because some guys are better head coaches then coordinators. Time will tell how he handles things. Speaking of taking the heat off the Bengals. I saw where Dominick Rhodes got a DUI doing like 85 in a 65. He is up for free agency in a couple of weeks.
February 21, 200719 yr The key for SD is they keep the "system" that works so well for them. I don't think too many coaches could mess them up, they have the talent to contend with any coach. Now with that being said I really doubt they'll go 14-2 so I'm sure many will criticize if they don't come close to matching that number.
