The Broncos of Frederick Douglass (8-0) (2-0) take the short trip on I-64 East to Winchester to take on the Cardinals of GRC (5-4) (0-2) on Friday night at 7:30pm. The Broncos cliched their 4th straight district championship last night in a 25-12 win over Bryan Station. The Cardinals were defeated 63-12 by Madison Central.

The teams have played 4 times with Douglass winning all 4 of them in blowouts by a combined total of 175-33. The Cardinals are coached by veteran coach Dane Damron who I am sure could care less about those 4 previous meetings. The Cardinals have made huge strides under coach Damron and will continue to do so if the years to come.

The Broncos are once again having their defense being their calling card. Douglass has only allowed 77 total points in 8 games. That is less than 10 points per game against some of the states better teams. The did not allow Bryan Station any points for the last 30+ minutes of last night's game a 6 of the Defenders 12 points came off a kick return and there other 6 points were off of a Bronco fumble at their own 6-yard line. The Broncos offense is pretty much Dakari Talbert. The senior RB and Mr. Football candidate is having a remarkable season. In just 7 games he has rushed for 1,010 yards and 15 touchdowns.

The Cardinals calling card has been their passing game under QB Carter Muzic. He leads 6A in passing attempts, completions, yards, and touchdowns with 21 this is through 8 games. The Bronco's defense is only allowing just over 80 yards per game. So this will be interesting to see how that part of the game plays out.

The Broncos are currently 15-0 vs. 6A District 8 opponents since 2023. I think they will go undefeated for the 4th straight year since entering 6A in 2023. The Cards just don't currently have the athletes that Douglass has. I am a big fan of Coach Damron as I actually coached him in basketball in high school. He is a great coach and an even better person but just don't have the horses as the Broncos have (no pun intended) lol. I look for the Douglass to win by 20+. The game will be on NFHS Network and also for free on Glicod Sports.

Douglass 35-7.

GRC gets another dose of reality this week.

Should set up a matchup of undefeated Frederick Douglas at Boyle County to end the regular season.

Freddy D takes this one.

FWIW, it doesn't impact this game but Douglass Freshmen jut beat Boyle freshmen 20-0.

Go Broncos. Think Broncos win 20-14 vs. Boyle and Big vs. GRC.

Another Dakari Talbert rushing touchdown this one just 1 yard and they now led the Cardinals 21-0 with still 1:06 left in the 1st quarter. That is Talbert's 17 rushing touchdown of the season.

Talbert scores this time on 14-yard pass from Guzman. This is Talbert's 3 touchdown of the game and the Broncos now led GRC 28-0 with still over 7 minutes remaining in the first half. The Broncos have started playing the younger Broncos.
