The 4-1 Briar Jumpers will make the trek across the Cumberland Parkway to take on the 0-5 Hornets in a district matchup. Somerset bounced back from their loss to Ironton with a 60-0 demolition of Green County on homecoming. Eight different Briar Jumpers scored touchdowns in the blowout. Metcalfe County has yet to put one in the win column this season. Somerset should win this one, and win handily. Thoughts?

I can see their RPI dropping with every win.

They struggled with Southwestern for 3 qtrs. I don't see them with the likes of LCA and company. They don't play the most challenging schedule, so hard to tell at times.

That Southwestern score might be a little deceiving. It was a crosstown rivalry game. Those, at least around here, often have strange outcomes. Look no further than last season . The Jumpers best Southwestern 35-7, and would have ended up with a running clock if weather delays hadn't ended this. Then a few weeks later the Warriors played with Pulaski County into the 4th quarter before falling 22-12. The Southwestern kids had heard all week that they were going to get a running clock out on them, and they really can't to play. Somerset had Ironton the next week, and seemed to be looking ahead. In scrimmages with Beechwood and Lexington Catholic they more than held their own, beating both squads. Scrimmage results are not regular season results, but they did show that they were not outmatched athletically. Health will be key for Somerset going forward, but they will be a tough out in the playoffs. Though they fell to Owensboro Catholic the past 3 seasons in the playoffs, they have been right in the game the past 2 years. They even led in the 4th quarter in the road last year before losing by 8.

This will be over quick, fast, and in a hurry. Somerset with a running clock early!

And I miss being in a district with Somerset as well. The realignment created some weird groups.

Won't they will be in the same district next year as well, or is my memory failing me? It definitely seems to be a weird district for Somerset to be in.
