Franklin Simpson is a predominately running team, averaging 243.3 yds per game through the first 3 games of the season. They were only averaging 48.3 ypg through the air.

PT through 3 games was averaging 325.0 passing yards per game, while still averaging in impressive 201.7 ypg on the ground on top of that. There has been a resurgence in the running game this year by Big Blue, led by Isaac James.

I don't know as much about Franklin Simpson this year so far, so I'll just go off what I can. Judging by the Madisonville game, who had a dominant running game and could still pass the ball fairly well when they had to, this isn't a matchup just based on that alone that favors the Wildcats.

Tilghman's defense since the first half of the McCracken game has gotten better and better. After giving up 36 to McCracken in the opening rivalry game, they've only given up 35 points total in the last 3 games combined and a couple of those were against teams in Mayfield and Madisonville who can light a scoreboard up pretty quick.

These two played twice last season with PT winning both by scores of 35-14 and 41-14. I remember very well how close that first game was for quite a while, PT had to pull away late. Before that, they hadn't played since 2004.

Like I said, I'm not super familiar with the Wildcats this year, please chime in if you are and let us know what to expect. I just know that last night was PT's most complete performance of the early season. We all thought the offense may be slow to start the year due to massive turnover in production, but they haven't skipped a beat and only getter sharper each game as they get more experience.

The PT defense, who I thought would carry the team early in the year, have played very, very good as of late. Outside the first half of the McCracken game, they may have a lapse here of there, but they are a solid group. Both the defensive and offensive line both for PT this year are more than holding their own and the guys up front have been paving the way.

PT's home game last night was the last until they play Warren East on 10/16. They have a stretch of 4 out of 5 on the road.

Last year the Wildcats ran for nearly 200 yards on the road in the regular season matchup. 49-14 when they made the trip later that season in November. FS graduated a lot from last season, they did bring back SR RB's in Jones and Hampton. Both have played very well. Wildcats defense doesn't stand a chance, I expect PT to be ready to go as they start district play.

Blue Tornado 56-13

As bad as I hate to say it go ahead and run that clock FS has been down but still good the last few years and I believe they are even down more than that this year. Their two wins are against one of the weakest 5A teams in the state by only 8 points and a very weak 1A club. If PT stops Hampton which they will this is going to get ugly early.

I think PT scores early and often and I expect a late second quarter or early third quarter running clock. PT 56-14.

I believe that WR Chance McPike will return for the Tornado this week. He is an Austin Peay commit. I think he'll be 100%.

I've noticed numbers 5 Jones hasn't played yet this season.He has a cast on his hand was supposed to get playing time on defense in the secondary.

Yes that's correct - he's a great athlete and was a key guy in the Secondary last season. He had an unfortunate accident on July 4th. I don't know if he will be back sometime this season or not.

I don't think Franklin-Simpson can run with the Tornado this week. Tilghman by 5+ scores.

It would be nice to see the Wildcats return to statewide relevance. I enjoyed the run they had in '17-'18.

Well I'm back after some tech issues and just general malaise on my part about FS football lately. Paducah will roll tonight easily. Only way FS stays close for long is if Tilghman shoots themselves in the foot often as they did in the regular season game last year. Wildcats had a couple of starters return from injury last week against Russellville and looked better than they have but defense is a huge weakness.

The Coach Preston years at FS were very fun for me as a fan. With only a few exceptions, FS only lost to teams who just had more talent then they did. In evenly matched games, Preston's teams almost always won. That's not the case now.
