Just a great game. I watched online while also watching the East Jessamine game. I'll pop some popcorn and wait for Watusi to chime in....

Defenses were the stars of the this game. Both could stall mate one another for most of the night but Pikeville just made the plays when needed to get the win. Both teams had two turnovers but Belfry had two turnovers on downs tonight. Physical hard hitting game with emotions from everyone on full display. Really enjoyed watching this one as a fan of football in the mountains.

It is always entertaining when these two battle. It rarely goes "chalk' but it always is physical and emotionally charged on both sides. It is what small town sports is all about in my opinion.

I'm glad you mentioned Pikeville's kicker earlier he is a heck of a weapon. Field position in high school football is huge, especially in a defensive game like tonight.

Pikeville looked like the better team most of the night and I think in the end the better team won. Belfry had to work harder for yards.

Given another month to improve both these squads should be making some playoff noise.

Now we have to wait another stinkin' year for the next round 🙁

Glad you're such a great sport, Watusi! I agree, it's good for the soul! Now that it's over, I can say best of luck to the Pirates the rest of the way. Genuinely hope y'all bring another title back to the mountains, and hopefully Pikeville can as well.

In all seriousness, severs people have commented about football in the mountains and there is just nothing like it. Living in CKY now and attending games here, it is such a disappointment sometimes. The atmosphere and so forth rarely seems as charged as it is in EKy. Miss my mountain Friday nights for sure!

Watching it at game speed I thought the runner was down before the ball came loose. Hard to say any different after seeing the video.

However, if that was a fumble, then it sure looked to me like a Pikeville recovery and touchback. That ref was right on top of it and maybe he could see the Pikeville player never gained possession of the ball, but it sure was a controversial.

There is a great head on video shot that shows fumble before down, Pikeville player recovers and AFTER he recovers cleanly, hit and Belfry player gets it in scrum. Should have been Pikeville ball.

Refs allowed two big ole boys from Belfry to spear a kid clearly in possession of a football in the end zone. Automatic touchback.
