February 14, 200719 yr Retired. No there is no link, he hasn't announced anything of the sort. I just heard this from a very reliable source and they say that this will be the end of Tubby's career once the season is over. Take it or leave, there's nothing we can do but wait and see, but just remember where you heard it first ladies and gents.
February 14, 200719 yr Half of Bluegrasspreps, apparently. Thats what I was thinking, but only 18% of them.Couch Coaches.
February 14, 200719 yr If this turns out to be true, I think it is more because of the unrealistic expectations of UK fans rather than Tubby's coaching ability. I hope that a new coach will have the same integrity as a person as Tubby did and not the previous two and maybe three coaches did.

I hope that a new coach will have the same integrity as a person as Tubby did and not the previous two and maybe three coaches did. You may be right but Tubby also has some off the court issues that are very important. he has a parent that is in ill health and I am sure that is always on his mind. As you said, Tubby is a man of integrity and it will be hard to find a coach that represents his family and the University Of Kentucky as well as OTS. Win or lose I will always respect Tubby Smith. College basketball needs more individuals with the integrity of Tubby Smith. He is a great coach and even better person.
February 14, 200719 yr The Cats can go after Jerry Tarkanian, they will be in the Final Four and will bring Kentucky a national championship within 3 years. The downside is that UK will end up on probation for 10 years after he leaves. lol
February 14, 200719 yr There's no doubt that Tubby Smith is a stand up guy. He brings a lot to the table off the court, but he's not what many Kentucky fans want on the court. He's a great person & a very likeable guy; unfortunately for Kentucky fans, character & integrity do not fight through screens, make good passes or shoot well from beyond the arc.
February 14, 200719 yr Bill Curry is a great guy as well. Plus his teams have never been on probabtion. You know times are tough when this is the basis for every positive arguement. I hope he retires, quits or whatever. Just go. There is absolutely no indication that UK will be any better anytime soon as long as Smith is at the wheel. This years recruiting class currently consist of Alex Stewart and a 7' project who is no longer on his high school team.
February 14, 200719 yr What would you UK fans think about Andy Kennedy? I think he would be overwhelmed by the unrealistic expectations of the UK fan base.
February 14, 200719 yr I think he would be overwhelmed by the unrealistic expectations of the UK fan base. After the last 18 months I'm not sure there is much left that would overwhelm AK. Tom Creen is (again) the best guy for the job if Tubby is gone...
February 14, 200719 yr What would you UK fans think about Andy Kennedy? In time, similar comments....different name.
February 14, 200719 yr In time, similar comments....different name. Great point. The guy is one heck of a coach and person, but a fantastic recruiter he is not...
