As far as coaching search goes, have heard Coach Morris mulling a return.  Also heard the names Steven Hatchell and Steve Lovelace mentioned.  Not sure how much interest either coach really has in the head role.  Lovelace has head coaching experience and played at Mayfield.  Hatchell has spent most of his coaching career there, so either fits.  Going to be interesting to see how it shakes out.  Regardless of who they choose, I think they go with someone who is ok with letting Coach Joe whisper in their ear, because, ya know, he is the great and powerful Oz.

Hatchell would be the easiest, quickest transition.  He has done a heck of a job with QBs and their development.  Not sure why they are “hesitant” on giving him the job. 
 

Heard they did approach Coach Morris and he declined, that’s why the position officially opened at the school.  Not sure if he is still being pursued. 

I’ve heard a couple interesting candidates are interviewing on Tuesday…  Anybody else hearing the same?

The 2 of them that I know of are in state. One is a current HC, the other is a very good young coordinator. 
 

Won’t release names until I get the go ahead. But the current HC is a big name, and the coordinator had one of if not the top ranked defense a season ago.

Per Jared Jensen of the Paducah Sun, word out of Mayfield is that the new coach will be announced on Monday.

Word on the street is that a coach has been chosen, and I am not trusting the “grapevine” on this one. I will wait for the official announcement. ?

Congrats to Coach Hatchell.  I had mentioned he was the obvious choice to keep the train rolling.  It will be interesting to see how his staff will look moving forward.
