Coach of the Year: Mike Code

First Team

Darius Miller

Preston Knowles

Corey Pelle

Troy Cooper

Kane Belcher

POY between Miller and Knowles, depending on how the rest of the season plays out. A healthy senior season by Tristan Jones lands him on this list, but I think his injury has caused him to miss too many games and play at less than 100% in many others.

GRC, in Post #2 you indicated that the POY should come from the regional champs. Sounds like something changed your mind.

I'll still say it's a toss-up between Miller and Knowles. In fact; I'll go ahead and give the slight edge to Miller AT THIS POINT IN TIME, based on the game last Saturday, where he dropped 26 and 14 on the Cards in Winchester; and with the exception of jacking up a couple of ill-advised threes late, played an extremely solid game from beginning to end. No Mason County homerism here; most folks who know me know that I give credit where credit is due regardless of team affiliation. I just saw more of a consistent and complete game from Miller when they played head to head.

It has to go to the KHSAA and The Adults(From each member of the 10 Region Schools) that have voted to keep the Region at Mason Co. for over 40 years. What a disgrace, you talk about a level playing field!!! These kids and parents and fans have been given a raw deal for over 40 years!!!! There is No Concern for the feelings of these people.NONE what so eveer. These kids have played their hearts out!!!!!! At Saturdays Mason vs Clark Game I heard one Mason Co fan talk about HOME COOKING(Meaning Referees) I THOUGHT WHAT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE LAST 40 YEARS!! One Mason fan was talking about the one teenager being escorted out of the GYM about being a sore loser. The reason he was escorted out of the gym was beacause he had a laser light,it had nothing to do about winning or losing!!! Again to the KHSAA and the " Adults" Money means more to them than the kids that play the Game!!!! Thats just part of life you kids have to live with, you mean nothing to them!!!! JUST LOOK BACK AT THE 40 YEARS, THERE IS YOUR PROOF!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT IS VERY SAD!!!!!!

I needed a good laugh. The rims are still 10-feet at Mason right? Just checking. There have been other teams than Mason County win the tournament. BUILD A 6000 SEAT GYM and we'll see about GRC hosting the region. I would actually give the awards to the players who are playing (and most in the region aren't bitter about the Fieldhouse Advantage), and the coaches who are exceeding expectations.

You can argue "10 foot rims" all you want to, but the fact is if one team can sit at home and wait until 30 minutes before the game to go to the gym, and their opponent has to ride 2 hours on a bus....well...gee golly whiz... there might be a slight advantage there.

Also, Mason is playing their opponent in a facility that they are familiar, and comfortable with. Could that be an advantage?

That was funny:lol: but, If you don't think that is a HUGE advantage for Mason you are crazy.

Since Brossart and CC have entered the 10th the 2 biggest advantages they had were Chris Lofton and Darius Miller.....Both would be Brossart and CC's best player of all time and at Mason County they aren't. Talent is a bigger advantage than home-court.

Let's choose the following for the 10th region: Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and First Team all region. Tell us why you chose this way.

Player of ther Year- Darius Miller- enough said

Coach of the Year- Jay Fite, Bracken County- Record right now is 16-9. took this team to the regional Class A final, while going through a season of heartache

First Team All-Region:

Darius Miller- No 2 players in the region could stop him on most nights

Preston Knowles- May be the best athlete in the region

Chris Owens- Second choice for POY award... without him St. Pat suffers

Corey Pelle- Great shooter and passer... Makes the Big Trains go.

Troy Cooper-Great inside prescence.. His Mustangs win the all A State title.

These all look really good to me, this would be my choices as well.

Belcher from Pendleton Co. has to be on the first team somewhere. From what I understand, he holds his own, playing with less-experienced players and most of the time, double-teamed. Unlike a couple of years ago when his brother, Keaton, played at Pendleton Co., there were four other players just as good as Keaton, making is easy for Keaton to showcase his talent. Pendleton Co. has a losing season this year but you definitely cannot over-look Kane Belcher as a first-team player.
