Official Cov Cath stats:

? The Massey Ratings predicted a 75-57 Cov Cath win.

The Colonels were not flawless. As @colonel-fan likes to say, "There are a few things to clean up."

Chippyness aside, the refs let 'em play tonight.

● Up next ~

Cov Cath (20-1) at Conner Thursday.

Campbell Co (14-6) hosts Community Christian Academy Friday.

○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○○

I had a chance to watch both prelims.

● Frosh ~ Colonels got off to a slow start and both teams were plagued by turnovers. The game went into high gear over the next two quarters. CCH is very quick, and this is one of the better frosh teams I've seen them field.

CaCo [6. 8. 14. 7.] 35

CCH [3. 24. 27. 9.] 63

W-L per Arbiter: CCH 15-1; CaCo 1-2?

● JV ~ Best performance of the year for Cov Cath, especially Brecount inside and Bode outside. Brandon Smith (Fr) DNP either game.

If the NKY JV Tournament bracket goes to chalk, a rematch vs. Highlands in the semis will be lit.

CaCo [4. 11. 17. 7.] 39

CCH [16. 12. 19. 17.] 64

W-L per Arbiter: CCH 12-2; CaCo 3-2?

The Arbiter listing is missing a few of Cov Cath's freshman games for some reason - they're actually 20-1 now. Here are the complete schedule results thus far in the season. The two games with missing scores were both from the Todd Houston Memorial Freshman Tournament at Holy Cross...Cov Cath's stats crew was down in Florida with the varsity team and wasn't available to post the freshman scores to Arbiter, and nobody could remember for sure what the final scores were from those two once they circled back with the freshman coaches about posting them.

St. X's freshman team is undefeated. Would be good game if could get a game vs. Cov Cath.

Is this CovCath's most athletic team ever in regards to depth?  They look like a group of D3 players this year.

You're not wrong about that, but I don't know that there's any chance of that this year. I'm not positive what the exact dates are for the NKY Jack Kaelin Freshman Regional Tournament this year, but I'm pretty sure it almost always starts the first week of February and then wraps up somewhere right around Valentine's Day. Looking at St. X's dance card for the rest of the season I just don't see much likelihood for making it happen.

A handful of rosters from the first half of Coach Ruthsatz's tenure were awfully deep too. It's hard to really say anything too definitively about most athletic in terms of depth, but this year's team is definitely in rare air among the 7+ decades of teams we've put on the court. Plus the teams during the late-60s and early-70's when Mote Hils took the Colonels to the Sweet 16 five years in a row were straight loaded, with multiple D1 players on the team in several of those years.

? Campbell County posted game stats this morning. Everyone was at or around their season's averages for points and rebounds. Shooting percentages for the Camels took a dip last night.

Davie 20p 11r, L Anthrop 12p 2r, C Anthrop 9p 3r, Elam 8p 9r, Guy 7p 2r, Eaton 5p 4r, Little 3p, Reidinger 1r.

? scoreboard/khsaa/CaCo game stats

Campbell County started the season 9-2. They're 5-4 since the first of this year.

Covington Catholic appears to be a high possibility to win the Sweet 16 this year. And evidently they are loaded with talented youngsters for the next several years.
