To be fair though, similar stuff has been said for the last 3 seasons about Highlands, and they have fell short the last 3 years even with being loaded with talent those years too. So it will be interesting to see if they can finally do it, after coming short with teams the last 3 years that people thought could have too and were saying similar things about.

To me the big piece that may make this year different, is their QB. They have had really good high school QB's these last few years, but Armstrong is just simply different. Having a QB like him gives them the shot to change the momentum in game back in their favor with just one play, even when things may not be going well.

Let's wait until after Week 4 and we can start discussing this a bit more. Hard to tell yet as the two scrimmages were against rebuilding programs so can't get a good judge for the team yet. They have high level talent all over the field but Bryce still hasn't faced a solid varsity Defense yet. Let's see how the Birds perform vs. Frederick Douglass and Boyle and we should have a good idea. It has been very easy so far and it is going to get much tougher real quick!

My concern and reasons for optimism are based on the same thing. The thing that has really hurt the last couple of years was becoming too one dimensional. You now have a dual threat QB, but don’t put all of the weight on him. The run game should be able to punish teams when trying to take the passing game away.

Agreed. Not at this point. I will say the Tackles are a push or even better than last season. You had a Power 4 Guard last season and the starting Left Tackle this season was the Left Guard last season. Guard position was better last season. The Center is already a push at this point just because he is a Sophomore but will be better than last season very soon. This is a much more athletic group on the O line with no one over 280 lbs. but the Center and Left Tackle are 6'4 and the Right Tackle is nearly 6'6 and they can all move very well. Taking that into consideration, the scheme is a little different this season. Lots of work to do but this group will be solid.

During the Blue / White game tonight Highlands is honoring the 96 State Championship Team that went 15-0. This was Dale Mueller’s first championship team. Lead by captains Justin Frisk, Toby Hlad, PJ Sauer and Brady Grimm. Legendary coach Jim “Red Dog” Daugherty passed away during this season and was a huge inspiration to the team. Highlands kicked off the season upsetting Lou St Xavier and capped off the season defeating Hopkinsville in the AAA State Championship.

An update on the blue/white scrimmage.

There will not be a live stream on the FT Film and Broadcast YouTube page. I’m making sure we’ll be good to go through our Hudl stream…not ideal…but it will work.

Curious to know if the O line has any quality depth, beyond the starters?
