I didn’t really pay much attention to the lineman challenge since CAL didn’t have a team in it, but did quite enjoy the big man 4x100 track relay ?

Highlands was 2nd after the events (bench press, pull ups, tire flips, truck push, & relay race), Ryle was 3rd or 4th after those events (I cannot remember). That was used to seed all lineman for a Tug of war tournament). Ryle beat Montgomery county & Irontons Varsity, then lost to Chillicothe in the finals. Hence were 2nd place came from.

Top 4 for the Lineman Challenge at Ironton = 1) Ironton 2) Highlands 3) Chillicothe 4) Ryle. All 4 groups looked very good!

Just read 6'2 200 Smith is the starting qb and Wynn is no longer with the team.

I heard this today as well. Every conversation I’ve had about the team this year speaks of their youth - especially led by a sophomore QB.

Brody, brother of former DL Dylan Smith, was the freshman QB last year. Anybody have any insight on his game?

Has a strong, accurate arm and can move should he need to. Has 3 years to prove himself, but I can see him challenging to be one of the best QBs coming out of Ryle when it's all said and done.

I can't really say they are just through 7 on 7, but he's a 6'2" 200 lb (I believe that is correct but he could be taller/bigger?) Sophomore who at least looks like he's been there going through 7 on 7. Games speak volumes and he's got to start and finish one, but he's got a pretty sizable and experienced line and he can make throws.

I should add that Nathan Verax had the experience that Brody doesn't and made some fine throws himself, but they still pushed the run and took advantage of his ability to do that. Brody has a better arm and from a throwing QB standpoint, they will be better. From a running QB standpoint, I don't think they will be, but I won't know for a couple of weeks.

We will find out more about him in mid September after Cov Cath, CAL and Highlands.

Definitely has the arm strength from watching him during 7 on 7.
