64th District Pairings

Thank you Intentional Foul, that was the point I was making. I too have friends at both schools. And what he fails to realize is,these kids are friends off court! It is disappointing to see such comments coming from a Christian School fan. He fails to mention any wrong doings there.

With that being said, I hope that he will see his shortcomings and stop attacking Ashland and the kids there. He should take a look at his coach's bench. How many are from Ashland?

Although Scooterbob and I don't agree on this issue I think its inaccurate to say he is attacking the kids at Ashland. He has strong beliefs about how this vote went. The way he sees it Boyd and Ashland benifit by seeding, Fairview and RH benifit from blind draw. Therefore by his biliefs the only school that gave in against their best intrest was RH. If he is attacking anyone it is RH.

As for the question about how many coaches are from Ashland, the answer is two. I myself am one of the biggest Rose Hill supporters and fans. I live in Ashland also. I don't see what difference that makes.

I am just guessing, but I would say Ashland, Boyd, and Rose Hill.

I don't know which schools voted for what but the "seeding" will start next season in the 64th.

I was traveling last week for work, and I just found out that the 64th District voted to seed rather than draw.

Needless to say, I was surprised at this turn of events.

Can someone bring me up to speed? Which schools voted for seeding?

I understand that Scooterbob is upset with RH's seeding vote - I also agree with him that it doesn't benefit the small schools of the district in most years. My comments deal more with how Scooterbob always seems to get a negative shot in against the other area schools EVEN when he is displeased with the actions of his own school. To me this is not what high school athletics should be about.

Per KHSAA Handbook B) For district tournaments with four or more teams, the

district tournament brackets may be drawn by random

lot or placed into the bracket using a seeding system.

A majority vote (recorded in writing) of the Principals,

Athletic Directors and/or Designated Representatives of

the schools in the district is required in order to make

or change seeding decisions.

Your reference says nothing about seeding for a definite period. It is not specifically prohibited. Thus, it can be easily argued that, by a vote of three or more, the seeding could have been set for a definite period.

The schools in a district can vote whatever they choose since it only effects them. It is merely my position that Rose Hill should have limited the seed arrangement or voted to draw.

Nothing has been offered to indicate that such a limited seed

was not a choice.

I keep reading in a separate thread how dominant the Rose Hill middle-school teams are. In late January, there were posts to the effect that the 6th grade was 20-1, the 7th grade was 22-0 and the 8th grade was 20-2. By my math, that's 62-3.

Why all the negativism re. Rose Hill's chances in a seeded district? Looks to me that unless their middle school is playing against terrible competition that the Royals would be licking their chops to play in a seeded district for years to come.

Reread my posts. My "theme" is that Fairview, Boyd County, and Ashland always conduct their affairs in accordance with what is best for each of them. That is not a cut at any of them. It is actually a quite positive assessment of them. I commend them for it. I am asking Rose Hill to do the same.

In representing their individual schools, "fairness" should have nothing to do with the process. Each school acts in good faith but entirely in the best interests of their constituency. They are advocates for their schools and what is best for their schools. That is how it should be.

Now, I know that all of you Ashland and Boyd County posters are thrilled to death with the outcome. Possibly, a few of you had to change your clothes when you learned of the seeding arrangement. So, naturally, you defend it since it is good for your people. Fairview, on the other hand, is a victim of the process. I understand that they are "unhappy". They have every right to be so.

However, if our loyalties were reversed, I feel sure all of you would be "disappointed" in the outcome.

I am a Rose Hill loyalist. I am an advocate for what is best for Rose Hill.

You are absolutely right Mr. Swift is the only decision maker in the Tomcat Nation and Tomcat nation is in very good hands. He ALWAYS looks out for the best interest of the Ashland!

Absolutely, and I commend him for it. He is a skilled advocate for Ashland. He does his job remarkably well. He has no peer in this area.

Your statement makes my point.

I am a Rose Hill loyalist. I am an advocate for what is best for Rose Hill.

Even though there has been a time or two that I have disagreed with you Scooterbob,(I would say 95% of the time I agree with you) this is the one thing I appreciate the most about you. You truly have the best interest of Rose Hill, and their students at heart. You are truly a good man, and I know that everyone that has ever been involved with the school appreciates all you have done for it. :thumb: :thumb:

Without having read it, I would guess that scooterbob was 100% against it. By the same token, he has to watch how he takes his stand, lest he step on some toes.

Now Frances, you should know scooterbob well enough by now that he's not concerned about if he steps on anyone's shoes. He is only looking out for the best interest of the school, and the students, and I have to agree with him on the seeding issue. It's not in Rose Hill's best interest to have the district seeded every year.

LRCW -

Please don't misunderstand me. Like you and scooterbob, I see seeding as the friend of both Ashland and Boyd, and the draw as the best arrangement for Fairview and Rose Hill.

I have absolutely no problem with you, me, scooterbob, or anyone else with seeing it however they wish to.

My point was not that scooterbob would be wrong to see it this way (it is, after all, an opinion that all three of us share). Rather, my point is that I would think that scooterbob probably won't be quite as "loud" in his protests, nor as demanding to see the facts, in this instance as he would be if he felt that Ashland had somehow hoodwinked Rose Hill again. I'm guessing that he will voice his displeasure, and then quietly move on to the next thread.

I could be wrong about how he handles it - it was simply my response to a point made by another poster.

Boyd over RH

Ashland over Fairview
