This should solve the problem of the teams in the district dodging Rose Hill in regular season play the next few years.:jump:

Let me ask this question, when did a draw ever benefit Rose Hill? Please tell me one time where a blind draw has helped the Royals advance to the regionals.

On the other hand had we draw the region in OJ's years and drawn Ashland it would have hurt us. If Rose Hill returns to the days of the mid to late 90's then it won't matter who they draw just like it didn't back then. Your either good enough or your not.

With a draw you have a chance. With a seed you have no chance. Poor draws just happen. You can't control them but you do know that the law of averages tells us it will somewhat even out somewhere along the line. If you are "down", seeding can never help.

In a draw, if you are #4, you may draw #3 or, at least, #2. In a seed, #4 always gets #1.

I am looking at Rose Hill's best interests for the long run when, very likely, #4 years will likely be the norm just as they were in the pre-Mayo days. Over the short term, the next six or seven years, seeding may or may not help.

I suppose it is kind of like our government does when it mortgages the future and burdens later generations to please someone today. But, then, that is just my opinion and it is apparently in the minority.

It didn't a couple of years ago. Precedence is important and the "decision makers" haven't changed.

Well, Rose Hill was pretty bad for years and it never, ever saved them from being the "sacrifical lamb".

I personally think seeding is the fairest way. There should be some reward for an entire season of play. If I have the best team and there is a team that is nearly as good I don't want my season decided by a coin flip or a blind draw.

Doing this in the "fairest way" will be unique for this district. I believe it is safe to say that only Rose Hill pretends to operate that way. The others protect their own best interests. Rose Hill may have had one friend in the district but those bridges were certainly destroyed yesterday.

Coach Biggs didnt have to play them this year. Im sure he wont take 2 loses.

Scooter, i was just curious as to why you always assume that everyone is against Rose Hill and that they are the only honest ones around?

Of course, everyone wants their team to win. It's a game. Nothing to lose sleep over. I find it sad that people that were born and raised in Ashland, graduated from Ashalnd, who never played basketball, feel the need to continually be negative. Lots of these kids are friends off court!

There is one and only one decision maker.

Seeding allows the kids on the floor to decide who they play in the post season, and that is how it should be.

Per KHSAA Handbook B) For district tournaments with four or more teams, the

district tournament brackets may be drawn by random

lot or placed into the bracket using a seeding system.

A majority vote (recorded in writing) of the Principals,

Athletic Directors and/or Designated Representatives of

the schools in the district is required in order to make

or change seeding decisions.

I agree wow I can't believe that I said that I am actually agreeing with SB and by the way nice post!

Has there ever been a #4 team pull of an upset in the 64th district, much less any district in the 16th region in the last 25 years?

IMO, every district needs to be seeded b/c a #1 district team (regular season record) deserves the BEST opportunity to play in the Region tournament.

The #2 & #3 district teams (regular season record) deserves NOT to play the #1 seed team in the district opener, and these two teams makes an excellent first round matchup in the districts and an even better District championship no matter who wins the other opener.

Nothing against a #4 district team (no matter who it is), but they HAVE NO CHANCE IN HADES TO WIN THE STATE TOURNAMENT MUCH LESS THE REGION TOURNAMENT, so why does everyone say we should have blind draws just so a team can get beat out in the opener of the region. Kinda pointless to me!

You are absolutely right Mr. Swift is the only decision maker in the Tomcat Nation and Tomcat nation is in very good hands. He ALWAYS looks out for the best interest of the Ashland!

Scooterbob, you definitely use the shotgun method when criticizing your neighbors. I can honestly say that in general, I am a supporter of the small school, Rose Hill included. But to say that RH is the only school that acts fairly in the district is beyond belief. Your constant attacks and negativity about area schools actually puts a bad taste in my mouth about Rose Hill. Luckily I then read posts from other Rose Hill fans such as Himmelfarb, Ricky P, etc. and I realize that there are classy fans at RH just as there are in all the district schools.

After reading your numerous posts these last few months I would say that your only reason for posting on BGPs is to protect the interests of RH. Sadly, it seems that you must criticize all the neighboring schools around you to protect RH. And then you seem surprised when RH becomes a target. My dear grandmother always said, "Its easier to catch flies with honey than with vinegar". Makes a lot of sense to me.

I was traveling last week for work, and I just found out that the 64th District voted to seed rather than draw.

Needless to say, I was surprised at this turn of events.

Can someone bring me up to speed? Which schools voted for seeding?

Frances
