It has to end soon, correct?  For some of the teams the games either don't matter or could actually keep them from getting into the college playoffs.  Or even worse, result in injuries to key players.

College football needs to speed up the evolution. 

I will say what I have always said, use a power rating system, the top 16 teams get in, all home games until the finals (Pro Model) and then a second playoff for teams 17 to 32, same format. 

What say you?

How would the conferences feel? Boat load of gate and tv money for those championship games.

I understand and that has been the problem with high level college sports all along, people in the background making all the money on the backs of young adults. 

Plus, if you expand the playoffs like that, the money will flow.

I'm seeing the "Big Guys" forming a super division of the top 48 programs divided into four 12 team divisions. 11 division games, 1 game with lower level (49 and lower)....teams like Rutgers, Maryland, UK, etc. The four division winners would play for the. Championship. Just a thought. College football is a mess.

I like the idea of a top so many teams have a playoff then the next level. Some of the most fun games to watch are all the lower level college playoffs. 

As long as TV Networks shell out money to air them.

Something needs to happen, we can't be having Notre Dame, Texas, and Miami not making it with some of the 2nd tier teams that are guaranteed spots.

It's the bargaining chip that was used to get the 12 team playoff.

Who determines what teams are 2nd rate?  When we do things like this, it is back to the old BCS model where people's judgement decides who is good and who isn't. 

 

Win your conference, and you are in if you are a P4 team.  No reason to get rid of conference championship games.  

College football now is essentially pro football with all the NIL money being thrown around.  If you don't win enough to be in the 12 team playoff, you don't deserve to be in.  Quit whining and go win more games.  

They should never go away. Why have conferences with no Championship?
