Our interview with Coach Dantzler is up. Thought it went well. Chuck and I really want to do a good job w/ our podcast. We reached out for feedback. Some positive. Some critical. All of it can make us better.

A theme that came up more than once was that the Brotherhood we share among Coaches came through. Interesting insight that I agree is present, but take for granted.  Reminded me a little of Coach Saban taking up for Coach Franklin this weekend.

Coach Dantzler will land on his feet and do well going forward. He says he is going to try to be a Dad as well while his son goes through the recruiting process.

After 33 years of being a head coach and watching my Dad as a head football coach, I am a little surprised that tension between the head coach and administration doesn't escalate more often than it appears to happen.

Looking forward to the broadcast.  As a former band parent and grandparent I was curious to research Central’s band and found it does not participate in KMEA (equivalent to KHSAA in sports) band competitions in 2025.  Their halftime shows are their times to shine versus most Ky high school bands view ballgames very secondary to their Saturday band competitions.  The point being that Central’s band director probably sees the football team as competition for attention rather than adding to the total package.  Administration has the sole responsibility to make sure the kids play nice in the sandbox and no 15 yard penalties for throwing sand in the coach’s face.

If that was truly the reasoning behind it I’m sure Coach Dantzler’s choice of words may have been worthy of a dismissal in some individuals eyes. I only say that because I remember this sort of situat

  • Listen, if the Central band doesn’t get to play then I’m not going to watch Central football play. They are one of the best and most unique things about Kentucky high school football.

Back in 2009-2010 I remember watching Central and Tilghman band go at it just as hard as the football teams. It made for a good back and forth in between plays and half time show with a drum-line stand off!

Heard maybe CAL.  But that was just a day or two after everything went down and probably has no merit or was just a guess.

Hmmmmm......or does it?

Did he coach last Friday? Did they make amends? Updates?

The KHSAA Scoreboard is officially showing Lonnie Oldham as the head coach at Central now.
