Another District game for Highlands to go down and do whatever they want against Mason County.

Game time: 7:30pm

Just like the game against Harrison, this puts 2 teams that last met back in 2011 & 2012 where Highlands rolled over Mason Co 61-3 &  71-8.  I am sure Dale wasn’t to happy about Mason County converting a 2pt conversion.

I look for the Birds to take care of business and have a nice drive back home.  
 

I think the biggest question currently for the team is how long are we out Gabe Williams, prayers for speedy recovery!!!

Birds could start the JV team and put a running clock on the Royals.

Admittedly, I screwed up scheduling the Birds. I WANTED to play that game. In 2010 & 2009, I thought we were the best team in 3A until we lost our QB, Neal Pawsat, both seasons at the end. 

The roughest streak we had at Mason was after Josh Harris got hurt in 2011 until we got to district play in 2012. During that time we had a seven game losing streak...I really did not know that until Chris Ullery pointed that out to me in the coaches office after loss # 7. Thanks Coach. ?

The one time we played Highlands before 2011 was 2003 and they got us 21-14 in the snow. 

I've know Bob Sphire for 30 plus years. Bradley Boone was my last QB at Mason. Both programs are in very good hands.

I get it!  No shame for what happened in 2011 & 2012, those Birds teams were both State Champs that blew everyone out of the water.  Crazy ironic that in those 2 years their ONLY loss was to Elder in 2012 (we actually beat Elder in 2011).

I was at that 2011 game. Good game between two good teams. As I recall the weather was, shall we say, brisk lol.

Neal Pawsat was a great high school athlete and incredible College QB at Georgetown College. Where he broke most of Coach Evistons college records.

Wonderful young man and football IQ through the roof. Every Friday night, he would do 2 or 3 things to help us win that I never told him to do. And, once a mistake was corrected, he never did it again. 

October of 2011, Georgetown OC, Craig Mullins, called me walking off the field one Saturday after a win to say, "Thank you for Neal Pawsat!" 

I told him, "Life gets TOUGH when Neal Pawsat walks out the door!" ?

Bluebird faithful might want to do yourself a solid and jump off the AA and visit The Augusta Beehive.  Stuffed mushrooms appetizer is to die for and grilled salmon will leave you wondering when can you comeback.  The game is just 30 more minutes and the running clock might get you back in Augusta for their exquisite deserts or at least a Captain Buckner’s.
