Cathedral plays 5A in Indiana. They are ranked #3 in the 5A AP poll. In the previous three seasons, Cathedral did play up a class. However, it was not their choice to play 6A. Indiana uses something called the "Tournament Success Factor." If teams have a certain amount of postseason success over a two-year period, they have to move up a class. Cathedral won the 5A state championship in 2020 and 2021. This resulted in their bump up to 6A. However, more recent postseason results have led to them being moved back down to 5A. If you went by enrollment alone, Cathedral would actually be a 4A team.

Thanks for that info! Looks like I needed to do a little more homework, haha. The "Tournament Success Factor" definitely sounds like an intriguing premise...I'm gonna have to educate myself a little more on that.

Generally speaking two hours.

About 115 miles. Allow 2.5 hours on a Friday afternoon.

Sounds like the top 5A schools(s) would be forced to move up and the lowest 6A schools(forced down? Or would they just accommodate the top 5A team when the time came.

It is something different that’s for sure!

Cov Cath has to get rid of the bad taste in their mouth from last week and re focus on another tough opponent.  This should be a good one.  Most important thing for CCH is to come out of this game fully healthy.

The Irish are in their all-white jerseys and pants with green numbers, and the Colonels are in their black-out uniforms.

Cathedral is evidently the #1 football program in the country for total wins by a program without a home field.

Cathedral wins the opening kickoff and has deferred to the second half.

The Irish kickoff team all took the field by doing a somersault as they crossed inbounds.

Touchback kickoff is returned out of the endzone by Mac Cogswell (no touchback?) to the 16 yard line.

1st and 10 Colonels.
