Trinity 35 Saint Xavier 24

Congrats to the Shamrocks on hard fought win! Trinity QB Zane Johnson made some great throws tonight.

Will have more thoughts later.

But a couple of things....

*Great win and a sweep on the week for the Rocks!

*Sloppy night for the Rocks overall in my opinion. Still too many penalties and a few missed tackles in key spots. Overall, the defense was in the backfield a lot and did a great job.

*Shamrocks will get better because of this game, excited for the rest of the season.

*Puzzling end for X. You can't just run out the clock when only down 11 can you?

On the final score, I think this is about what most of us expected, right?

A little higher point total but 11 points yes.

Probably had more to do with who was playing QB. They got a false start on a 3rd down and probably didn’t want there back up to make a poor decision deep in their own territory on 3rd and about 12.

knew it was going to be tough to move the ball consistently on the T defense but X was able to put some drives together on short fields but when Trimble hurt his ankle it was going to be hard for them to produce at the level needed to score enough points and move the football consistently.

Thought the X defense played well, but they were on the field a lot and struggled to consistently stop the bubble.

Both teams will get better and more than likely will see each other again.

First and foremost, it goes down as a win and one against your arch rival. The Rocks got it done and came out with the 11-point victory.

However, a very sloppy game. Penalties hurt as well as turnovers. Overall, I liked how Trinity put it together and was able to give themselves a cushion for the win. Johnson and the passing game looked good.

Watching the battle in the trenches was fun. X defended the run very well and I though the T O-line struggled at times. On defense however, the Rocks line was clicking all game and have Trimble and the Tigers some trouble as expected.

I believe those are the top two teams in 6A without a doubt. Do we get a rematch in the postseason?

Trinity's next opponent Cincy St. X lost to Elder 23-13 tonight.

Just got back from the game.  First T-X game in person in some 20+ years.  My thoughts:

Great atmosphere!

X's run D was strong.  T didn't start to find holes until they started to stretch it horizontally for yards in the second half and only then did they start to get run yards between the tackles.

The score could have been much worse.  T did everything possible to shoot themselves in the foot in this one and X only moved the ball consistently on short fields and did T give them A LOT of short fields tonight.

I'll be interested to see the final stats on this one.  I swear at one point X had like 17 points and probably only one first down and some 40 yards of total offense.

A few key good throws from Zane and T's hardnose D made the difference tonight to counter act all of the penalties and sloppy play.

The ending was a bit odd.  I felt like with X's starting QB hurt that the staff threw in the towel on this one and wanted to get off the field without any more injuries.  X basically did T's job of milking the clock in the 4th while being behind.

Very sloppy from Trinity and not the statement win I expected, but really glad I made the trip down with some Purdue buddies to introduce them to the culture of KY HS football. The experience of this game is unlike any other and they were impressed. KY does High School Football right!

Estimated attendance was around 16,00 from what I've heard.

It was around that two years ago so probably right.

How I wish we could get back to the days of 20,00 or so.
