? | NewCath will build from the inside out with a few offensive linemen back from last year, most notably Marshall University commit William Sandfoss. His 6’5”, 280 lb frame helped pave the way for 281 yards on 7 per carry in last year's 27-14 win over the Juggs.

Lloyd returns Kaleb Evans, one of NKY's better signal callers, who posted an impressive touchdown to interception ratio of 24/3 last season. Sophomore Colten Barger should be a prime target for Evans to replace Isaiah Sebastian.

Both teams have been popping up in pre-season Top 10s, suggesting a good scrap is on deck in Erlanger.

I do not think Lloyd is ready enough in the trenches for what NCC is about to bring to Erlanger.  I also love watching Lickert's QB's. The kid he had their last year people were really curious about whether he was going to be able to be the guy or not and to me it seemed he got more comfortable, confident and improved week after week. That young man now going into year 2 as a starter for Lickert should be really interesting to watch. Kaleb Evans is a baller but I think Lloyd still has alot to learn about themselves after all the offensive and defensive production they lost from last year's team. Lloyd better have their special teams ready because they will need all aspects of the game on point to have a chance in this one. I think Lloyd still has alot more to find out about themselves then NCC does. Give me New Cath 31-6

Can't add much about Lloyd at this point in the season. I will say Eddie Bivens is going to be a problem for teams, on both sides of the ball. If NewCath can stay healthy, they can be as good as they want to be. Sandfoss has been rehabbing an injury and they are a different OL when he returns. 

Lloyd 34-14. My prediction NCC will start 1-4 this year. 

I’m not sure what Newport Central Catholic has to bring to Lloyd Memorial on Friday night. It always seems NCC is always ready to play. So never count them out. Of course I’m a Lloyd guy and know we lost a lot of talent last year. All I can say is don’t underestimate the underclassmen that are stepping up. Lloyd Memorial has a great quarterback and plenty of weapons to get the ball too. As far as I’m concerned, the speed did not leave the table, Lloyd has plenty of speed for sure. It looks to me like we need a little bit of work on the line to make a run. I’ll take Lloyd by 10 points. 

Interesting game. I am picking NCC to win but a Lloyd win wouldn’t surprise me .

So neither one of us think it will be a shoot out but we do forsee one of the offenses putting up some good points. I'd like to hear it was a 35-34 game going either way with both teams having some newcomers explode on to the scene.

Any new names to keep an eye out for? I love finding some new guys to keep track of. I know Lloyd's OC has really been dialing it up the past couple years being blessed with all the playmakers he had. If they have all the speed you say then the OC shouldn't have a problem keeping the ball rolling. Especially with Evans still at QB1. I still think it's hard for them to come out in week 1 and light it up with about 80% of their offensive production gone from last year and Evans coming back from injury again. I think it takes them 3-4 weeks to find out who their playmakers really are on O and D. Alot of that I think is from teams getting into full equipment just over a month ago. It takes some time in pads in live action to find out who your dudes really are especially when dealing with underclassmen. Everybody looks good in helmets and shorts.

I’m looking to see how New Cath rebounds after giving up a 66 burger to Cov Cath. Hoping to see them put that in the rear view.

Yeah lol. That's crazy. Could be good or bad for Lloyd. NCC could have some real issues on defense or they could come out playing like their tail ends are on fire. One thing that's for sure is Cov Cath showed there is a huge gap in where some programs are. I didn't expect it to be that bad. That scrimmage was varsity, jv, freshman and Cov Cath dominated all three levels.

Yes Evan’s is playing.

The CovCath scrimmage could be a sign of things to come, but they were also huge on all 3 levels compared to the Breds. I'm not sure how to feel about this one.
