Just saw a report on the Colin Cowherd show that said that both Clemson and North Carolina are looking at moving to the SEC. That would be big in football for Clemson and basketball for North Carolina.

Expand the playoffs to 16, let the computer decide the 16 best teams, and conferences won't matter much.

Wouldn't that kill the basketball rivalry between NC and Duke?  They will probably play each other now and then, but it won't mean as much.

I'd say once a year early like UK and Louisville.

Or make it mean that much more if they're only facing off once a year instead of 2-3 times a year. 

I thought I’ve read that the hate level isn’t as close to what ESPN plays it up to be. Might not be a big deal at all.

They have played each other for almost 100 years.  They actually call it "The Rivalry".  Two of the most successful programs ever 10 miles apart with passionate fan bases.  It will be a shame if they aren't fighting each other for ACC championships and the top spots in the NCAA Tournament.

I'm familiar. And if UNC leaves the ACC, I'd imagine Duke tries to as well. The question would be where they try to move to.

Duke seems like a Big Ten team if they were to move.

Imagine Kentucky in the ACC with Louisville, Carolina, and Duke in basketball. Maybe even a prayer in football. Money talks though

Part of UK's football recruiting pitch is playing in the SEC. I think recruiting would take a big hit if they switched to the ACC, even more so if Clemson leaves the ACC. 

The SEC gains nothing by adding either one of those teams. UNC is trying to strike while the Belichick iron is hot, but they are not brining eyeballs to the TV other than that.
