Johnson Central Coach Starns resigns?

Featured Replies

Whether Starns resigned or was fired, Who would want to coach at JC with it's recent history of revolving door coaches???

I would have to think many quality coaches would be skeptical of walking into that situation.

Whoa here now, lets stop and think about this for a moment!!!

Didn't your football coach quit and go to a rival county school two years ago? Didn't you force your basketball coach out 2 years ago that had two regional championships in basketball and about 3 in baseball under his belt? You fired your baseball coach last year that had just won 3 regional titles in about the last 5 years. Your athletic director has had major runins with everybody and will be leaving after this year. Is all of this not true?

And you want to criticize Johnson Central? Sheesh, glass houses. I believe I would have kept my comments to myself on this one.

The word I get is that Starns resignation has something to do with kicking a player off the team back in December?????? Surely the administration supported that moved since the kid acted like an idiot, getting a technical and stomping off the floor with his shirt off.

Also, the bringing up of an 8th grader has been an issue. Where are all the JC posters that were on here last year with the Eagles state tournament berth. Fill us in!!!!:sssh: :sssh:

It all depends on who that "idiot" was whether or not the admin. supported Coach Starns on the situation.

I'm sure he did "resign" with the pressure of several pairs of eyes (and probably a few other things) looking over his shoulder. Terrible situation...

What is wrong with this? If you recall, Kelly Wells along with Coach Starns brought up an 8th grader to play during tournament time a few years ago. His name is one everyone is familar with today (Darius Miller). This practice happens all the time. The King twins are currently in the 8th grade and playing varsity at Deming. Surely they (JC) wouldn't be dumb enough to loose a good coach over something as stupid as this. I would love to hear the whole story!:irked:

Well, I am not for sure what went on here but I have a few ideas. I wish Coach Starnes good luck in the future and I hope that this isn't a messy split.

Shouldn't this be in the Lexington-Herald or on Lexington news stations if there was anything out of the ordinary?

Before we all go bashing the administration at JC, lets remember that Coach Starns did "RESIGN". It sounds on here like he was fired.

No respectable coach resigns before the end of the season and hopes to move "up" the ladder in coaching. If that's the case, who would hire him? I'd be afraid that he'd leave my program for greener pastures.

It looks bad on him if he resigned just to move up the coaching ladder.

However, I don't know the entire situation, but the way it looks and judging from the past, it looks like he was forced to resign.

And as for just bashing Johnson Central, hey it's all around as duely noted by firebird. :thumb:

Has anyone substantiated the fact that Starns is no longer the coach???

All I have heard is hearsay...so and so told me.

That doesn't get it....Now I am hearing that he is still the coach.

Someone help us all out.

Why doesn't some enterprizing journalist or media person just call the school and verify something?

No one in authority will comment!

The truth needs to be said and put this situation to bed for the best. The worst thing is that the kids are suffering through politics and egos. I would challenge someone of authority to put the facts out there or close this thread before more assumptions are made.

I agree with Stark, someone needs to step up.

Coach Starns will be a success regardless of what happens in JC!! Maybe he will join Kelly Wells as Pikeville College. Starns is a good coach and an even better person.

I'd like to see Starns come back this way. Great Coach, and an even better person!
