?️ | It's region championship #22 for the Thorobreds on Mac Whitaker's watch. MoCo's Jaimen Caba homered in the B8 to tie the game before Harrison's Sean Vaughn singled in the winning run in the T9. The Indians got a runner on in the B9, but couldn't get him home.

Nice tournament run for MoCo, but Harrison prevails as they so often do in the 10th. 

Somethings stood out in my mind.  MoCo left a ton of runners stranded, maybe 14/15.  Cooper Slade, HC  threw a complete game 119 pitches.  MoCo’s unusual strategy of intentionally walking Jason Lewis 4 consecutive times worked effectively (3 times to load bases and once to put 2 men on) as the Breds only pushed 1 run in.  HC played solid D behind Slade while the Indians only struck out twice.

Thorobreds won in 1984, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2023, and now 2025.

Nine times they advanced out of the old sectional format to the state tournament and this year marks their fourth trip straight to the state under the current format.

It’s amazing what Mac Whitaker has accomplished in baseball at a school with no bigger enrollment than Harrison County.

HC’s Jr. #2 Slade allowed only 1 walk in completing this 9 inning battle.  Slade improved his record to 8-1 by throwing to contact and letting his defense do their thing.  MoCo had 15 hits, but stranded a corrected 12 runners.

Just noticed every player that MoCo fielded was an underclassmen.  Lookout 10th in 2026!!!!!
