This is just what an ACC Assistant Coach told me. It could absolutely be true that top OVC players are getting paid good money for advertisements and commercials, but I can tell you it is true that most P4 players, starter or not, get paid more than a top LM starter/top producer. 

Yep. At the P4 level, it's pay for play, period. 

I've seen literally a couple commercials for guys. Other than that, nothing.

The only commercials I've seen for Kentucky basketball players were Trent Noah (hospital system in Eastern Kentucky and a bank) and Travis Perry (honestly can't remember), which makes sense because they are local kids who should have been getting those endorsements years ago.

Now I'm guessing players in non-revenue sports are probably making money on camps and the like, but you're right, for all intents and purposes basketball and football players are being paid to play basketball and football.

I seem to remember when this whole NIL thing started, there was a DB playing at Tennessee that had a deal with a local company that sold cookies.  HE picked off a pass on Saturday, everyone got a free cookie on Monday and he got a little cash.  In 2 years we went from that intended NIL to "here's 3 million, just show up and stay out of jail". That's a busted system.

Yeah. Seems that A LOT of guys are getting high end/or luxury vehicles, likely as a lease from local dealerships. And I think just about all the player(s) has to do is say, "Yeah I love this car/truck/suv, just go see the guys over at Jim Bob's dealership and they can get you in one as well".
