Basketball coach fired for comments

Featured Replies

I really dont see much wrong with this. Maybe it was a little risque for basketball, but do you think this would have been a problem in football? No way.

Often times, locker room comments....are meant to stay in there. I've heard much worse. Sometimes the motivation ideas of coaches, lack judgment.

:thumb: :thumb: It is not supposed to leave the locker rooom.

Can i get an AMEN !!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely......Amen

Like the ol' saying goes, "What happens in the locker room, stays in the locker room."

Your correct and that ol saying probably 10-20 years ago was more effective then compared today, and I think that is a credit to kids were more disciplined, hard nosed, would run through a wall for a coach and do anything to win. Not saying that there arent teams or kids that wouldn't run through the wall for a coach, but kids are different today. You can't push players buttons like you once could. Now days kids want to run home and report to moms and dads and therefore forfeits the ol saying what happens in the locker room, stays in the locker room.

Way too risque, and this comment just wasnt needed to be said period.

This turned out to be a funny thread. I don't think this was all that big of a deal, never actually seen a coach tell the players to get up and check, but still it was a motivation technique that worked. I agree with the others in that I've heard much worse in a locker room but this just shows how the times have changed.

I think that there is a difference in the "heard" part and what he told the players to do.

Oh, I agree, I can see a coach saying something like that, but to actually make them get up and do it is another thing.

And mom and dad pat junior on the head and call the Heavy Hitter. Administration sides with the parents so the district isn't sued and junior learns a valuable life lesson...

Respect for coaches/teachers is a thing of the past because moms and dads and administration OFTEN side with the kid rather than the coach.

This "grab em" coach was an idiot, but in general...... the kids have changed because the parenting styles have changed.

I am not sure that I would agree that administrators always side with the parents. I have seen times when coaches have been stood up for by prinicipals and supt. We all know worse has been said.

Camel - I put it in all caps - OFTEN - not always.

In Scott Co. they (currently) back the coaches. It doesn't happen too often other places:

Ligon @ Shelby

Billy Ray Reynolds when he was @ Scott Co.

Coldiron and the last 4 other coaches @ Powell

Greenup

Johnson Central

Niemi @ Ryle

the list goes on and on...
