Owensboro names Damarcus Ganaway Sr. head football coach

We’ve been very competitive with both X and CAL - we’ve had 2 TD’s called back each year on CAL or we might have 1 or 2 victories.  I love it.

I just saw the schedule.  Had no idea that we were dropping Bowling Green this season.   St. X and CAL back to back to open the season will be tough.

Who is the SW team we are scrimmaging??  Doesn’t look like south Warren based upon the logo.

So it is south Warrren….OK Ill take that instead of along trip to Columbia to play Boyle

I like this Scrimmage better too. Nobody gets hurt and it's closer to Owensboro.

You realize players can get hurt in practice right? SW will always be an extremely physical football team and is one of the best programs in the state.

You can't really guarantee this.  I would hope nobody gets hurt all season but its football and its inevitable.

Week 10 has always been the game for me to get concerned about getting hurt as you are right on the doorstep to the playoffs.

But as said above, you can get hurt in any game.  Heck they can get hurt walking to class for that matter.  HA!

Just need a little luck.

Can someone please post the Owensboro Season schedule in here please?  Thank you!

Yea, but this is why we were so banged up last year. I don't think we had Chadyn Morris for more then 4 ball games.

Dude. Austin Gough I believe was out for the season because of a freak play against Franklin-Simpson I believe. I wouldn’t get so worked up that it’s a great football team we are playing….we need the good teams not the bunnies.

I know. I just want to win now. Beat Catholic and get back to State Championships.

O under Fallin has improved the schedule so much - and I’m grateful.  We will continue that under Ganaway….very excited here….We have Mayfield, South Warren, X, CAL, Henderson, Owensboro Catholic, Graves, Madisonville.  Also 2 city teams in Apollo and DC along with 3 more district teams they can’t help.   Scheduling helped us wallop South WArren 2 years ago and play BG much tighter round 2 last year…left a lot of points on the board there…(credit BG defense and not giving the ball to Hampton down tight).

O needs a MUCH improved defense - very good defense 2019 to 2022.  Against the dominant Freddie D team it was 7 to 2 until 4th quarter because of that great defense.   I’m hoping we get some new blood on that side of the ball.

I guess you can get a glimpse of how the Catholic/OHS GAME will be since you both have SW as scrimmages. Grant it you can’t read too much into scrimmages!

On the Catholic thing - best 2 teams they’ve ever had the last 2 years vs 2 of our weakest the last 6 years n and they beat us in the last seconds one year and had to come back on us in the 4th last year - we were up 10 in the 2nd half - just no defense.  2022 was a gift…we played horrid, had several out on defense (including Goodwin, Johnson, etc.). Hail Mary late to win.  I forsee a huge win against Catholic.

I like how you think Brown. I hope we can beat Catholic this year. It will be 4 years in a row if we don't and that won't go well with the old Owensboro guys here. We got to beat Catholic.
