February 2, 200719 yr Bonafide Division 1 schedule that features six teams that won bowl games in 2006. Bowl conferences from '06 mean nothing in '07, since you can make a bowl with 5 D1 wins.

They have been having a hard time getting bigger name teams to schedule them, and in alot of cases they have had some teams back out of the contract. Not much they can really do with that, especially at the last minute since their opener backed out on them.

February 2, 200719 yr Has UL tried scheduling above average teams for their non-conference schedule and not insisting on playing the top 10-15 teams? Maybe Utah and N.C. State were attempts at it, but how about looking at Fresno St., Hawaii, Boise St, TCU, etc. Teams that are in the 25-40 range every year. I think they may have more success getting those teams to come to Papa John's than the big schools. Plus it would help their stength of schedule.

Georgia Tech would've been a good series, but Vandy is like playing Kentucky, a guarnateed win for a good program. I think UL will have trouble scheduling teams from the SEC because the conference is already tough enough, you don't need another loss or potential loss on the schedule. For example, the UL game this year will keep Kentucky from four extra weeks of practice and national exposure...no bowl. My point was to look at non-BCS conference schools who are in that 25-40 range. Their conferences aren't as tough or lucrative, so they will take a chance playing UL.

How do you know they'll be good when you schedule? Most spots are filled years in advance, or you risk being forced to play teams like Murray State to fill the holes (no offense, Racers. Love Matt B's.) BCS conference teams have built in credibility, even in down years.

Wins over Kentucky, Baylor, Northwestern, UConn, Duke, etc. are far less impressive than wins over TCU, Tulsa, Fresno, Hawaii, Boise, BYU etc. For Louisville to add Vandy, the worst SEC team historically, or second worst if you put UK there, brings nothing to their schedule. If you are a top 25 program like UL, I can't think of any reason to play Duke or Vandy or Northwestern etc. in football unless you want to say you have "X" wins against BCS conference schools.
