Setting the all time record for a single year.

Not a bad year...

.....:scared:

I hope they can struggle, to barely make it through these lean times....:sssh:

Exxon balances out my retirement investment in Ford.:sssh: ;)
Stay away from the Energy sector, think cyclical or funds.

Nicely done, Strike 3.

I think all of us offer our prayers for their uncertain future.

Thanks and you never know, one bad day and those profits could be down to $39.475 billion....which could be unnerving, for the top brass.

Boy, I'll bet their shareholders are really ticked off...

The only people that could be upset by this news are those without the foresight to invest in Exxon stock... like me. :irked:

Amen. Of course, if profits were to plummet to such unimaginanible lows, the CEO might still be able to find some solace in his golden parachute package.

On top of that, their 4th quarter earnings were down.

Boy, I'll bet their shareholders are really ticked off...

I do have shares and just recently learned, there is a difference between Exelon Corp and Exxon Mobile Corp....I can here the cash register "cha-chinging", off in the distance.

Gotta admit that it is part of my portfolio. Recently it dipped into the low 60s and I recommended it to some friends, who didn't listen.

Kudos to Exxon. We complain all the way to the pump to fill our big trucks and SUVs, but we never seem to get it that it is a consumer driven product. Supply and demand. Capitalism at its best.

What? We don't have a "right" to cheap gas prices? When did this happen?

Part of me wants to scream about anti-trust laws but I know the only person I can blame is in the mirror. They're selling at what the market will bear and kudos to them. The have more of a profit margin than bigger than the GDP of most countries. I don't know if this is true, but I did hear on the news a couple of weeks back that for every $1 a barrel the price drops an estimated our GDP goes up 3/4 of a point from spending on other things besides (imported) oil.

Yes, the consumer does dictate supply and demand, but certain items are cyclical....food, gas, water, electric, etc...and big difference between escalating prices and "gouging".....

Right now, I believe most consumers would agree that "gouging" is predominant.

I started riding the bus to and from work, and moved closer to the busline.

Now I walk and bus just about everywhere, partly by choice & partly out of necessity.

In a nutshell, I buy a monthly pass for $28/month, cut my fuel spending from $240/mo to $80/month, and have lost about 25-30 lbs.

All-in-all, for me, I feel I'm doing my part to counter the "demand".
