I like how they did this team - just listing the top seniors and not limiting themselves to the top 2 or 3 at each position.

The HL has done a "Class Of The Commonwealth" for quite a few years now, and personally I think doing things that way ends up putting out an overall better product than trying to come up with first team and second team players for a position-by-position "all-state team."

Only 4 young men from NKY on this list.  Who chooses these awards?  A bunch of talking head reporters who probably never played a game of football in their lives.

I have never been a big fan of the Herald Leader's way of doing things.  It is such an easy way out, it is not a real team, and one person could come up with the whole thing in an hour or two.  No thank you.

However, congrats to all the fine players that made the Class of the Commonwealth!

There is no single way to do these awards that is going to make everyone happy.  CJ publishes the number of coaches voting for its all state teams... its usually around 40% of coaches in any particular sport.  The ballots are emailed mind you...

Undefeated, Record-Setting, State Champion, Paducah Tilghman QB Jack James wasn’t even mentioned. And that’s with at least 8 QBs being listed. With that being said, there’s always going to be some way to pick apart a list like this.
