This was a preseason race but the qualifying, the heats, the last chance qualifier, and feature (Clash) were all really good.

Also, the defending NASCAR Xfinity Series Champion, Justin Allgaier, is behind the wheel.  In other words, a great, but minor league driver.

I watched NASCAR pre-Covid as my Brother-in-law is a Big fan.

But I've never understood putting your top race first on the calendar.

After it's over, what to look forward to?  Not mudslinging, but honest question.

More into F1 now but would like to give NASCAR a chance again at some point.

I personally do not see it that way at all and think it is more of a marketing campaign that NASCAR uses with Daytona to drum up early excitement.  Every week is huge in NASCAR, sort of like the NFL.  And depending on the track the races are so unique.  Furthermore, I think Daytona is more of a wildcard race because it is a Super Speedway and drivers that don't traditionally win have a better chance meaning you get some odd results vs. the rest of the season.  Plus, next week is Atlanta Motor Speedway which is always amazing and then off to COTA for an early date and I know you are familiar with COTA and it is great for NASCAR just like it is for F1.

Thanks for giving that perspective.  I had not thought of it in that fashion honestly.  So trying to learn.

Really cool seeing the reaction in the JR Motorsports pits when they qualified for Daytona with a 9th place finish in the first Duel Thursday night.

With all of his career success it was cool seeing how much making the race for the first time as a car owner meant to Jr.
