There's no sugarcoating it…. last week's schedule was hot garbage.  ? ?

The lack of big games dimmed the Mr. Football spotlight. Instead of highlighting players that took advantage of stat padding opportunities, we're going to take a snapshot of where we stand right now.

We're roughly halfway home on Mr. Football. The following order is taken from the preseason watchlist, plus a few who missed the original cut but have made great strides.

Players Featured in the Preseason Edition:

The Supermen

Austin Alexander (Cooper, DE/TE)
Easily identifiable as one of the best players on the field, but the consistency in production hasn't been there. Isaiah Johnson is far and away Cooper's top receiver and Ryker Campbell is arguably their defensive MVP so far.
Season to date: 27 tackles | 6 sacks | 27 catches for 453 yards and 6 TDs
Stock: ?

Brady Atwell (Owensboro Catholic, QB)
It was unreasonable to expect him to keep pace with his astronomical junior season, so the numbers are down from where they were at this point a year ago. Which says a lot about last year, because he's been outstanding again.
Season To Date: 106/163 for 1,720 yards and 25 TDs with 4 INTs | 303 rushing yards and 8 TDs
Stock: ↔️

Martels Carter Jr. (Paducah Tilghman, ATH)
He's fallen off the pace due to a reduced role, though it has nothing to do with his capabilities. In all likelihood, he's being saved for the gauntlet of 4A's postseason. #wenotme
Season to date: 18 reception for 163 yards and 3 TDs | 1 KR TD | 3 INTs | 1 fumble forced and 1 recovered
Stock: ?

Montavin Quisenberry (Boyle County, ATH)
Q's showout in Lakewood (OH) may prove to be the single most relevant performance of the regular season. The impact won't fade. You can't always look at the numbers, because he's playing half games most weeks. But when push comes to shove, the Rebels put the ball in the hands of their virtuoso.
Season to date: 43 carries for 439 yards and 8 TDs | 27 catches for 492 yards and 8 TDs | 1 passing TD | 1 KR TD | 22 Tackles | 2 INTs
Stock: ?

The Year Of TheQuarterback?

Deuce Bailey (Bowling Green, QB)
There was a golden opportunity missed in Week 1, followed by a masterful performance in Week 2. He's been laying relatively low ever since, but that changes this week for one of the state's biggest rivalry games.
Season to date: 95/145 for 1,690 yards and 25 TDs with 3 INTs | 2 rushing TDs
Stock: ↔️

Bryce Button (South Warren, QB)
A gutsy player who has willed his team to some wins this year, but still waiting for that headline grabbing opportunity. Will he answer the door when it knocks? BG is on his doorstep.
Season to date: 99/148 for 1,409 yards and 21 TDs with 5 INTs | 5 rushing TDs
Stock: ↔️

Clay Hayden (Beechwood, QB)
Hayden's hibernation should extend several more weeks, as district play and early playoff rounds will require little of him. He's tied for the state lead in touchdown passes and his TD/INT ratio is among the best. The only nitpick: his completion rate isn't up to par with his state best mark last season.
Season to date: 101/153 for 1,624 yards with 28 TDs and 3 INTs
Stock: ↔️

Jack James (Paducah Tilghman, QB)
The state's all-time leader in touchdown passes at 152 and counting. He's been razor sharp piloting a well oiled Tilghman machine that looks poised to for a lengthy run in November.
Season to date: 172/256 for 2,125 yards and 28 TDs with 4 INTs | 4 rushing TDs
Stock: ?

Luke Pennington (Sayre, QB)
Mr. Perfect 2.0? The sequel has been just as good as the original. He's thrown 77 touchdown passes since his last interception. That schedule, though. Woof.
Season to date: 90/120 for 1,349 yards and 27 TDs with 0 INTs | 3 rushing TDs
Stock: ↔️

Louisville

Cortez Stone (Central, RB)
Labeled as the best pure running back in the state in the preseason watchlist. Nothing's changed. He has hundred yard games against Manual and St. X, and has run for 622 yards and 10 TDs on 15 per carry over his last three games.
Season to date: 92 carries for 1,088 yards and 16 TDs | 1 passing TD
Stock: ?

Connor Hodge (Christian Academy of Louisville, ATH)
More of an athlete playing quarterback, but he wears the position well. Hodge has an opportunity to cement CAL as heavy title favorites again and possibly bury Stone's candidacy all in one night.
Season to date: 128/188 for 1,782 yards and 17 TDs and 6 INTs | 387 rushing yards and 7 TDs | 2 INTs
Stock: ?

Antonio Harris (Male, ATH)
He's been on the receiving end of touchdown grabs covering 53, 57, and 73 yards against St. X, Trinity and Frederick Douglass. Harris is made for primetime and one of the state's best deep ball threats.
Season to date: 16 receptions for 431 yards and 7 TDs | 261 rushing yards and 4 TDs
Stock: ?

Small Schools, Big Game

Brenden Anthony (Pikeville, RB/LB)
Injuries have hampered his impact. A murderous 1A schedule and mounting losses have done him no favors. But considering he suits up for Pikeville, an individual post-season push is always on the table.
Season to date: 54 carries for 409 yards and 2 TDs | 2 receiving TDs | 76 tackles | 9 TFL | 2 sacks
Stock: ?

Brock Coffman (Sayre, ATH)
The most dynamic playmaker in 1A, but like his quarterback, the schedule is holding him back. If it were a priority, he'd have 200 yards and 3-4 touchdowns every week.
Season to date: 45 receptions for 749 yards and 15 TDs | 1 KR TD | 23 tackles | 3 INTs including a pick-six
Stock: ↔️

Missed The Preseason List, But Have Come On Strong:

Kade Elam (Corbin, QB)
No one has come from off the preseason watchlist to make up more ground than Elam. His night against Johnson Central was an all-time great Redhound performance. Currently completes 75% of his throws.
Season to date: 122/163 for 1,873 yards and 19 TDs with 2 INTs | 260 rushing yards and 9 TDs
Stock: ?

Zack McCoart (Johnson Central, RB)
Like Elam, McCoart's night against Corbin ranks among the best ever at JC. Currently ranks #2 in the state in rushing and averages 11 yards per carry, atypical out of the wishbone.
Season to date: 147 carries for 1,627 yards and 21 TDs
Stock: ?

Isaac “Spike” Sowells (Male, OL/DL)
It's hard to quantify the value of a player who primarily makes his bones as a blocker, but if you've seen Sowells in action, you know he's the real deal.
Season to date: The Bulldogs average 7 yards per carry with Sowells anchoring the OL | 15 tackles | 2 sacks
Stock: ?

Jeremiah Jones (Murray, ATH)
A dominating two-way player that imposes himself on games. Jones leads 2A in receptions and ranks in the top five in receiving yards, tackles, and sacks.
Season to date: 44 receptions for 663 yards and 6 TDs | 2 rushing TDs | 80 tackles | 12 TFL | 7 sacks | 1 INT
Stock: ?

Javeon Campbell (Western Hills, DL)
Absolute game wrecker. The UK commit is head and shoulders above the competition he's faced so far this season. He devoured a quarterback and running back mid hand-off last week, tackling both players simultaneously.
Season to date: Numbers are incomplete | 27 tackles | 11 TFL | 9 sacks | 1 scoop and score
Stock: ?

All bias intended…

Give me Deuce Bailey ?

My vote is Simon Kenton  QB Brady Lee 2322 19 tds and 387 yards 7 tds. He leads the state in passing yards.

I voted it for Quisenberry but Antonio Harris would be my #2.

I'd go with Quisenberry. He is also on the MaxPreps watchlist for National Player of the Year.

My first pick would be Montavin Quisenberry and my next would be Brady Atwell. This is one hell of a list this year and all of these athletes are stellar.
