Bishop Brossart and Ludlow hook up in a District seeding match in Alexandria that could well decide the Class 1A, District 4 Champion.  Ludlow is the defending district champ, having defeated the Mustangs a year ago 20-6 on the Red Turf at Ludlow.

The Panthers lead the all-time series 10-6, with Brossart having won 3 of the past 4 encounters.

The Mustangs have established a multifaceted offense, with Tyler Holtz throwing for over 1,000 yards and 17 touchdowns, and Cam Mandel leading the run game.  Team depth has been a major asset.  Ludlow counters with Junior scatback, Dameyn Anness, averaging over 123 yards per game.  Six Panther receivers have accounted for 11 Ludlow touchdowns.

It will all be decided at 7pm Friday night at the MAC in Alexandria.

When I look at and see Junior running back Dameyn Anness play, the word scatback is not what I would use describe him at all. To me a scatback is a smaller running back that relies on being elusive and making people miss and using speed, but not much on breaking tackles. Dameyn for Ludlow is much more than a scat back IMO. As he has very good size to go along with his speed, and is just as likely to run over you to break a tackle, than he is to making people miss. It’s very rare that one guy brings him down.

Now as for this game I think it should be a very good game. Whoever has less turnovers should win this one.

Simply employed the term as a figure of speech.

Feel free to sub "Power Back."

Love to see these two programs flourishing.  Have not seen Anness play, but when I read futurecoach’s comments they remind me of Panther great Jim Lokesak.  A real compliment to be mentioned in the same sentence as Jim.  Valid?

The Brossart Junior High Colts just won the Small School Division of the Middle School Football League tegular season, going 8-0 that included a 22-6 win over NCC, and most recently a 43-6 win over Holy Cross.  This is a fun team to watch, and they have the potential to help us take the net step forward.

They very well could if they remain together as a team. The future is bright for the Mustangs if that team remains together.

Nope. Jim was a special player. Personally I think the competition Jim played against was far superior to the current teams.

that's awesome that they have such young talent coming up. Is the current varsity team also pretty young, or is it pretty senior heavy this year and looking at a possible drop off next year, before the younger talent gets older? I know Ludlow has a few of its top players back next year, and have a very talented freshman class this year and a solid middle school class moving up next year.  This definitely could end up being a very good rivalry with both teams competing for the district title each year.

I think it’s hard to compare any running back at Ludlow to Jim Lokesak. As Jim was probably the best player in Ludlow History regardless of position. With that said I do think Anness is one of the best backs in Ludlow history to go and is still only a junior.
