Gallatin led 53-40 with 5 minutes left, but Owen scored 13 straight to tie it at 53. Taylor Jones' layup with 1:35 left gave the Cats a 55-53 lead. Gallatin then hit 7 of 8 free throws in the final minute, including 4 by Jones in the final 8 seconds, to seal the victory.

Yes indeed, great game by both the wildcats and rebels. I really wish there was two tournament MVPs because I think that Daniel Neeley had MVP performances through the whole tournament. When he wasn't scoring, he was dishing out assist, when he was on defense he was putting hard pressure on the ball. Just an all around great player in Neeley. Perkins also deserved the MVP because of his play, great scorer and defender. Perkins can play pretty much any position on the court.

 

And Lunatic I am going to have to take Owen on the cheerleader fight. Not only was it intense with the ball players but the cheerleaders were going at it. I seen one cheerleader throw an elbow at the other but i also seen body guards take care of the situation. A very comical night on the sidelines. :laugh:

I agree, Tall Trees. Coach Jones and the Wildcats have been there before, so I expect a good showing in Richmond.

 

I know that this is a tough loss for the Rebels. I have only good things to say about their team, in particular Neeley. He is the single best overall player that I have seen this year.

Love to watch this kid play...saw him when he played at Owsley Co. Knew Owen Co was getting a good one.

I have to agree about Neeley. A class act. When one of the Wildcats came out in the 2nd half I believe for an injury, Neeley came over to the Wildcat bench to ask if the player was o.k. Real stand-up player!!!!!!!

 

Can you imagine if he had transferred to Gallatin too???!!!!

Neeley what a player,I see nothing but great thing for him.

I am putting my money (metaphorically) that the state champ comes from this side of the bracket.

Probably should start a Neeley post, but the kid is the real deal and one heck of a kid. Will start that post, but now THIS is for the cats. Great win! Perkins had a great tournament and at the end it was voted the MVP. Good thing about him is that if one of his teammates was playing better ball the win would be much more important than the award. Great team player. Owen has Neeley. Gallatin has a team. Good luck in Richmond.

Loved the way Coach Jones rotated his players in and out. If he needed rebounding a big kid would replace a point guard and vise versa. If a kid got out of control he found time to think about it. Rotated men on Neeley and wore him down. Started missing a few ( very few ) in the last quarter. Otherwise he would have had 50 and a trip to Richmond. Used Davis and Carlton late in the game for a little muscle and it payed off. Perkins got hurt and was sitting through most of the Owen comeback. Jones put him back in and although he didn't score again the bleeding stopped. The rest of the team is better with him on the floor.
