Josiah England rushed for 246 yds averaging 9 yds a carry…great game  for the young sophomore. 

Two 200 yard games out of 4 games as a sophomore is pretty darn impressive. Shaping up to be one of the best sophomore RB Mayfield has had..at this point hes all the offense Mayfield has especially as their biggest threat...Mayfield has no outside speed that 3 of the 4 teams had in Acree, Falconite and any of PT receivers that can just flat out run a fly route and get past the defense.  Mayfield played a decent game and MC surely had their chances...no picking the score as most thought Mayfield would. Tie game in 4th quarter was not good....I am just not sure if this Mayfield team can beat Murray, BW or OC..could be a early exit this year for cards but something to build on for next year...still go CARDS...

Good game to watch, McCracken certainly had their chances. Mayfield's pass rush was very good causing Mustangs QB to rush and throw some picks. McCracken's defense played better than in past games even though they gave up lots of rushing yards. Lots of penalties on both sides some were costly.

If Mayfield plays close to a clean game this game is a 49-14 game. Mayfield dropped touchdowns and at least 2 more interceptions and got to the 5 yard yard line and didn't score. McCracken  is a middling team and Mayfield played middling football.

If everyone played a clean  game wow what would scores be in all these games.... I think MC dropped a potential TD pass was also in the redzone once and came away with no points...at the end of the day it comes down to talent which this Mayfield team doesn't have compared to teams in the past. I remember playing WR in high school and not dropping a pass all year. Dropping and catching passes is about talent...it was a good game to watch as mentioned, the England kid right now is worth the price of admission. These Hoptown and MC games the past few years have been cake walk and people thought MC was going to be another cake walk which all is evidence this Mayfield is a little less talented as teams in past...still go Cards, keep building just may have to wait to next year to be competitive with top teams in 2A such as Murray, Beechwood and OCath...

I respectfully disagree. I see talent on our team all over the place, but several of our players are getting playing time for the first time. So they are not executing the plays, at times, like they should. But execution can be coached and learned. Some learn faster than others, and the growing pains can be costly at times as we have witnessed so far this season.

I'm not quite ready to concede the title to someone else just yet, and you may be right, it may be next season before this team really blossoms.

You got a thing for Murray. Wonder why.

I believe (or at least hope) that Mayfield will continue to grow and get better each and every week. Like it’s been mentioned several times, there’s a lot of new faces on the field in crucial positions and a new head coach on the sideline. Mayfield is still trying to figure things out each week. Now I hope we’re not still saying that in 2 months but it’s a possibility. I did think we took two steps forward last week in a loss and then a step back this week in a win but sometimes that’s just how things go. 2 things that Mayfield has not been able to do this season that’s hindered them is:

1. Make tackles in the open field or at some points make a tackle period.

2. Catch the football (SO many dropped passes)

Last night was once again very sloppy. Clean up those two things which are easier said than done, and Mayfield will be a tough out for anyone.

You say I have a thing for Murray because of some post I made last year about a certain ex murray player that definitely helped Mayfield win the state but I am a truthful Mayfield  and football fan that recognizes talent etc and know what it takes to win a state championship from a player perspective...This Mayfield team is going to have trouble winning state this year bc they're not as good as the past 2 Mayfield teams that was state runner up and won state last year...with 2 defeats already we're going to travel if can get past Murray in second round...Owensboro with Atwell, Beechwood with all their play speedy playmakers, Murray with their coach and hitting stride already and now LCA with their size and hitting their stride and we keep talking about Mayfield playing a clean game, dropping passes and playing very inconsistent makes it be a tall task for this Mayfield team...just telling Datruth from my perspective..go CARDS...

I’m not quite sold on Murray being on the same footing as BW, OC and LCA they had a nice win over Union but let us remember Union got smoked by MNH and look what happened to them last night. As far as Mayfield they will probably get better as the year goes on but it seems their ceiling may be the semis which would still be a heck of a season for a very young team.

Didn't say they didn't have talent but if you compare them to recent Mayfield teams this team is not as talented...let's play this year with hope and confidence but 2A at top is too much this year...Owensboro,  Beechwood clear cut then pick your own order Mayfield, LCA and Murray can shoot it out for 3rd...semi would be great for this team especially if its not a blow out but it will definitely be on the road...GO CARDS..

The difference between this years Mayfield team and last years team is leadership. Last year, they were a Sr dominated team with a lot of games under there belts. This years leaders are primarily sophs and jrs with a lot less playing experience. Talented kids, just needing to find there groove. I do like the depth they have this year. Not many kids playing both ways and very solid against the run. They need to find a go to WR. I think Hoover could be that but they don't utilize him as much as they need too, imo. I'd also get the TE more involved. Will Morris has potential to give them a little more offensive flexability.
