Lincoln County 42 Danville 0

Featured Replies

Lincoln has beaten 3 bad teams and traded Scott County for a winless Danville team.  They are getting ready to play a 1 win last year Bourbon County team.  I don't know Coach Rogers and he may be great and the team may be headed in a better direction this year than last, but I'm not sure I'd see them as turned around yet.

Lincoln will have some opportunities ahead to gauge more of where they're at.  I.E. an improved Russell Co. team and Somerset.  But, there's no doubt that winning (whoever it's against) creates positive momentum for the program.

Agree with this.  Winning gets more community people to pay attention, more kids to come out, and just creates a better atmosphere.  Granted, you have to build off of that and improve your schedule over time but you have to start somewhere.

Beating bad teams is better than losing to bad teams. And you said yourself on this post that LC was not a good team, so using that logic they are beating teams just like them. Which is a step in the right direction.

Yes Danville is down, but LC has been down a long time too and beating them (no matter the year) is big for the community and the program. I don't think LC fans think they are a state contender or anything like that, but it's ok to enjoy winning games.

I absolutely agree with you.  My point was that I'm not sure things are "turned around" as of yet.  You are right, winning the games you should win is a step in the right direction and I said in the prediction thread that I've seen Lincoln be the better team a few times and still lose to Danville, so any win over them is getting rid of that monkey on your back.  My post was in reaction to Lincoln is turned around in 3 games.  Winning always helps, but making an easier schedule to do it can be a little smoke and mirrors if you are not careful.

When Chuck Smith came to Boyle in the 90's, he slightly weakened their schedule so the kids can get that winning feeling. It sure did seem to work.?

Lincoln is going in the right direction.  Turn arounds don't happen overnight in most cases. The schedule was made by a previous coaching staff with the exception of trading Scott for Danville.  Kids have respect for the current coaches and enjoy playing for them. That's definitely a step in the right direction!!

Anybody who has kept up with Lincoln County Football the last few years should not be surprised of the current success. The Patriots Junior class won in middle school and in JV. The varsity schedule is very favorable right now. All of this equals success. Good for Lincoln County.

Again, the biggest take away from this game is the current situation known as Danville Football. Losing 42-0 to ANYBODY should be unacceptable to that program. Changes are needed, in my opinion. If a quick turnaround does not happen and the Ads have a 7-8 loss season, which is likely, I can't imagine Coach Parks leading the Ads in 2025. I wish it were different.

I would say the ADS at this point would love a 7 loss season.  That would mean that they won 4 games and I don't think there is any chance of that happening.  But I'm not sure yet another new coach is the answer but how do you continue with somebody going 1-21 or 2-20 their first two seasons.

I agree.  Hopefully Danville can get the ship back upright soon. I wish all the area programs are able to return their teams back to the glory days.

If Parks is back next year you can Gurantee some of those current 8th graders will transfer out. That's Danville's best next class.

I mean this as a question, not as a statement, but who in their right mind is going to willing to take on the Danville situation? Clevenger is long, long gone. I don't see many established coaches going out on a limb for Danville either.

Especially with the team across the way.

And this is the big question.  There's no question that Danville has talent if you can keep them.  Yes, Boyle is across the way but its not like Boyle and Danville are in the same class so that's not a huge negative.  But the prestige of the job has taken a massive hit.  You would need to try to get an established program builder in the position and that hire would need to re-establish ties to the community, alumni, and donors who shut their pocketbooks when Clevenger was terminated.  And hiring said person may require substantial concessions on Danville's part in terms of teaching load, staff in the building, stipends, etc.

All this assumes that Danville would want to switch coaches as doing so means 3 coaches in 5 years.  That's a lot.  But if admin decides to move on from Parks after the season this is a hire they cannot afford to screw up.  They would need to identify a target and make a full court press to get them.  Hold nothing back and do everything possible.  Even that may not be enough.  But I don't think the Ads should also let fear of the unknown hold them back either.

Just a tough situation all around!

I think you explained it as well as one could.
