Many experts would tell you that Dunn is entering what will probably be the 4 most productive years of his career (ages 27 - 30); I'm not sure Penny is the guy that I'd give that up for. Strike3, I believe Dunn is making a smidge over $10 million in '07.

WOW! What a country. Police Officers risk their life everyday for our safety and get true smidgeons of pay. But that is for another thread and another time.
January 26, 200719 yr While I agree the Reds need pitching as much as the next team and the fact that Dunn has a "tendency" to strike out more than a 1000 teams in a season with a low batting average. If they get rid of Dunn, the Reds are going to have a hard time scoring 2-3 runs a game and that's against Rockies pitching, let alone really good National League pitching. The Reds offense plummeted after the big trade last year and they still had Griffey, Dunn and Aurilia in the lineup.

January 26, 200719 yr We automatically remove a horrible defender, 100 plus K's, a guy who goes in horrendous slumps, and we get a very solid pitcher. I don't think Penny is as good as Dunn. Last year I said I wouldn't trade Dunn for Willis (I would now in a second, he was hot at the time). We have some money to spend. If Dunn leaves we can move Griffey to left which makes more sense than right. Freel and Denorfia can split time in center an right and we can go after a solid outfielder at either center or right. Someone who's going to hit 30 HR"s and bat close to 285 and score 90 runs and drive in 90. This type of OF should be available in the 7-8 million range. I think the pitching and defense would be significantly better and the offense would be WAY more consistent.

All of those guys are / will be $10 million guys. I'll take my chances with 43, .240, 100, 100, and an on-base pct over .350 and roll the dice that his best years are ahead of him. :thumb:
