I loathe this procedure. I've gone to Tom Gill Chevy in Florence and a new Trailblazer or Equinox with decent extra perks are 31,000 out the door. I did some window shopping on Wyler Buick in Florence and their new Envisions and Encores, and other models are 23-26K out the door with extra perks. All of these are "regular cars" meaning smaller SUVs or just midsize vehicles. They are not luxury models. Why are Buick's so much cheaper then Chevy and Toyotas?

I have not bought a "new" car since 1992. I buy 3 year old cars with low miles. Save money and pay cash. Drive it for 6-8 years or when it gets to about 150,000 miles and sell it. Repeat.

Paying cash for cars, what a fantasy! LOL

I hear you. Wasn't easy to make it happen. Took 15 years of driving just ok cars to finally get to buying cars I actually like.

Rich guys like @theguru can do it.

No, but that is the plan from here on out and I won't be due for anything new (to me) for a long time.  I have a very nice eight year old car right now with low miles and no issues.  I am a happy boy.

I have a 2011 Camry and my wife has a 2009 Corolla.  Both cars are running great.  However, as I get older, I'm yearning for a car with features like a backup camera and lane assist.

I would hang on to what you have.

Sell the 2011 Camry for 10k.

Buy 2018 Camry with the features you want for 18k.

If you have 8k cash, you get a newer car you like and no car payment.

Start saving for the next car upgrade.

Lol... I was hoping someone on here owned a Buick or had adequate knowledge of cars to advise me on whether or not to spend less money on a new Buick or spend the extra 8k on a chevy or toyota.

I'm a Toyota loyalist, so I'm going to recommend the Toyota all the time.

If you go the user car route, good luck.  The market is still crazy.  It took me over 3 months to find and buy a car for my daughter.

From a financing standpoint, I can attest to this. The market is definitely still crazy. It's wild what some people and dealerships are selling used cars for. And even crazier that people are willing to pay for it.

I am back to your original question. Sorry about sidetracked the thread.

I am surprised to hear the Buicks are cheaper. Buick prices should slot between Chevy and Cadillac. That is where Buick fits on the GM model scale. Weird that Chevy would be more than Buick.

My last two cars have been Buicks and I have really enjoyed them. Poor man's Cadillac...lol.

Only somewhat relevant to this thread...

I drove an Escalade for a week when we went on a big family vacation in 2021. It was an ESV and it was loaded. That thing was BY FAR the nicest ride I had ever driven.

I see why they cost so much, and it's worth it if you can afford it.
