Every host country gets to add a sport as an exhibition.   Japan re-added baseball in 2020(21) but it is not back in this year.   I can see flag football making it past year one since the NFL is gaini

Lexington's Lee Kiefer defended her gold medal in fencing.

  • I guess Australia did not know the meaning of a "prevent" defense!

I agree.  Track and swimming.   They are the purest sports in the games.   If you are faster from point A to point B, you win.   If you can toss this ball or stick farther than everyone else, you win. If you can jump higher than anyone else, you win.  No ones opinion on how you did determines anything, just your ability.

Exactly, Olympic Judges have been notoriously biased over the years...criminally so it seems in many cases.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is incredible!!!

Set a New World Record in the 400M Hurdles of 50.37. She finished 1.5 seconds a head of second place, and appeared to not even be running at full throttle the last 30 yards. She ran the 400 hurdle faster than all but 8 or 9 of the Olympic qualifiers ran the regular 400.

If she were to really go for it, she'd probably medal in 400 H, 400, 200 H, 4x400 relay, 4x400 mixed relay and maybe even the 800.

I expect in LA (2028) she'll run a few more events.

Team USA ?? down 11 at the half to Serbia ??. At one point they were down 17. Curry has been on fire with 20 first half points.

The winner will face France ?? in the Gold Medal game and the loser will play Germany ?? for the Bronze.

She was so dominant.  Makes it look so smooth and easy.

US men's team cut it to 6 at one point but after 4 point play by Serbia, they trail by 76-63 at the end of the third.

US bench only has around 8 points I think with KD, AD, Ant and the others failing to find their groove.

Serbia is just outplaying the US on both ends.

Jokic is just so good.

As I type that he throws Anthony Davis into Kevin Durrant as he's shooting a three with AD and KD both ending up in a heap on the floor...but the three was good.

KD 3 counted, US ball out of bounds and Booker hits a 3....six point trip.

84 all...3:41 left

This is going to be a great finish!!!

After Serbia went up 86 to 84 on a sweet Jokic assist, US has gone on a run to take a 91 to 86 lead with 1:41 left.

What a game!

Curry had been horrendous all through this Olympic run... Embiid, not much better. But they both came to the rescue today.

Noah Lyles can't back up his 100M with a 200M gold, taking bronze instead.  Not bad for an asthmatic that was diagnosed with COVID after his 100M win.  Kenny Bednarek of the US took silver.  Letsile Tebogo of Botswana won gold.

Tried to watch some Breaking today.  Held out for 5 whole minutes.    I"m sure for it's niche, it's awesome, but didn't do much for me.

The US is adding Flag Football for the 2028 LA games.

I'm not a big Covid guy, in that nowadays I consider it about the same as someone having the flu. With that said, reports are out now saying that when Lyles ran the 200 he had a 102 degree fever, so he was highly symptomatic, meaning highly contagious. He put himself in danger and others at risk of catching the virus. I don't think it was the right thing for him to do, to run the race.

With that said, he still got Bronze and beat a bunch of other world class athletes in doing so, had he won gold it would've been the thing that legends are made of especially in the first summer Olympics after Covid. End of the day though, only a few years removed from it shutting down our entire world, I still don't think it was the right choice to run. I'm also not going to lie to myself and say if I was him I wouldn't have tried, I just don't think it was the savvy thing to do. I'd say it doesn't help his persona that it's all about him.
