MJAlltheWay24 Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 We made it! The greatest two days in sports is upon us. May your brackets stay clean, your gambling accounts get full and the beers flow! Figured we could have a spot for just random chatter about the games that maybe didn't warrant a full game thread. Like sharing your gambling wins, bad beats, random player perfomance and what not. I'm sure we will have plenty of game threads floating around too. Let's make it a great couple of days! 1
bugatti Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 I hear you. As much as I rail on the poor play of college basketball and the tournament being an inverted pyramid of excitement, I am a sucker each year for these first four days of the tournament. 1
MJAlltheWay24 Posted March 21, 2024 Author Posted March 21, 2024 They are the absolute best. I've been at my company for 13 years and take off these two days every year. This year they scheduled a company wide (we are about 50 employees) meeting today from 10-4pm. I was livid, but my boss pulled me aside and said, "We don't expect you to miss March Madness. Don't feel bad using your PTO since you have for like 12+ years" haha! Felt like a trap (just kidding) but I ain't in the office today haha! 1
MJAlltheWay24 Posted March 21, 2024 Author Posted March 21, 2024 If I was you guys, I would definitely put Michigan State in your brackets to win today and bet on them, because I am big on Mississippi State. And I have a great tendency of losing the first game of the tournament haha!

I only have 3 teams from the conference making the Sweet 16 and none of them getting beyond that round. And I have Sparty beating State today.

Auburn, Kentucky and Tennessee? Same. Got Kentucky to Elite 8 but not confident. 2 1

hrcarrier Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 I think the game between Florida Atlantic and Northwestern is interesting of the first round. Florida Atlantic isn’t nearly as good as last year and Northwestern isn’t great by any means. Between Florida Atlantic not being as good and the attention Dusty May has been getting, I could see Northwestern winning.

They announced one of Northwestern's players won't be able to play because of injury. Not sure how big of a piece he was.

bugatti Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 It is always refreshing to bring Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and the rest of the TNT NBA folks to discuss teams in the tournament when it is obvious they have not watched more than five minutes of college basketball collectively all season. 2 1
MJAlltheWay24 Posted March 21, 2024 Author Posted March 21, 2024 Mark Pope better wake the boys up. They didn't score for the first 5 mins.

hrcarrier Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 This is likely the first time I picked against Tom Izzo in the first round. Regardless of how good or bad Michigan State is, Izzo is practically guaranteed a first round win. I thought Mississippi State had a chance and picked due to how down the B1G has been in basketball. 2

I don't know if I've ever picked against Izzo in the first round. 1
