I would have to say when Cooper had McNeil and Kunkel on the same team they had more talent.  Other than that, I am not sure.

It was close but won’t split hairs. That CCH team in had Von Handorf, Mayer and the big 7 footer Walter. CCH beat Cooper in the regular season and Cooper won the regional final to get to Rupp. 
 

I will agree that Cooper had a strong starting 5 that included both the younger McNeils, Kunkle, Hendrix and Runion on that team. 
 

The 9th is blessed with some phenomenal basketball talent along with great coaches and it’s great to watch!

As or who the better coach is, well, I realize records aren't everything, but Ruthsatz has beaten Sully 11 out of the 17 times he's faced him. Plus how many state championships has Sully had at Cooper? Or 9th Region titles? If you were asking me, I'd let you have Sully all day.

I wouldn't say CCH's 11 out of 17 record against Cooper truly reflects this matchup. Sullivan building a program from scratch, where they didn't have a winning record until their fourth season has to be accounted for. Even then, they were 16-15 that year. With that said, we're really looking at a 7 and 6 record in CCH's favor, if you take out Cooper's first 4 seasons. Definitely not as lopsided as you originally stated.

From the livestream last night - Jags did a nice job limiting the Colonels open 3 point attempts imo. Big rebounding margin favoring Cooper.

I had Cooper as my preseason #1 team that year so I have to stick to my original thought that Cooper was better in 2017.

Two high level future P5 starters in college basketball- Sean McNeil and Adam Kunkel

NFL caliber D1 athlete that ended up at Indiana State for football (under-recruited)- Dante Hendrix

Three future D1 baseball players: Brayden Runyon, Blaine Walters, Tyler Ollier

Then had Chris McNeil at point guard.

Covcath was really good that year as well with CVH, Fredrick, Walter, Mayer, and Ruthsatz, but I still think Cooper had the better core.

I can see your point and agree with your viewpoint.  However, Cooper was the dog in that regional final and not many saw Cooper winning that game, especially falling behind 11 early in the first half.  That team was special and knew how to take care of the ball, score but most importantly play defense!  Hendrix and Runion led that team defensively as they were the back to back to back regional defensive players of the year. The bulk of their scoring came from McNeil and Kunkel but that team was outmanned sizewise.  

The current team has the potential to be as good when they take care of the ball and play defense like they did last night.

If you take out all the losses, Sully has never lost to Ruthsatz. Pretty incredible stat .

I'm a Grant Co guy, but keep up with what's going on in the 9th, and I have this sneaky feeling this years 9th region will be one of the best regional tourneys to attend.  The semifinals will be one of the hottest tickets out there.  That being said, The HS basketball fan in me would love to see this years 9th region tourney be played at the Roy in Henry County.  Not bashing the 9th's tradition but as a basketball fan this would be awesome to see played in that environment.  JMO.
