College football by far has more trophy games than any of the four major sports in America at any level. With the NewCath vs Newport game being tomorrow it has me thinking about this subject. They've been playing for the Firemen's bell for as long as I can remember. I don't have access to the archives like our resident historians seem to. Dayton has played Bellevue for around a hundred years but only recently added the "Battle for the Paddle" to the historic rivalry. Are there any other Trophy games in the Bluegrass?

St. X and Trinity play for a shillelagh which in Ireland was used as a weapon for self defense and for walking and hiking. The Ancient order of Hibernians which is Irish Catholic organization that presents the shillelagh to the winning team who keeps it at the school until lose.

Bullitt East, Bullitt Central & North Bullitt play the round robin for The Bullitt Cup.  If somehow all three teams end up 1-1 after the round robin, the winner is the school with the greasiest point differential in that year’s series.
