What in the world was he thinking…

It was a college D1 punt that the returner touched and then was recovered but the ball went into the end zone before being touched so I think it is going to be a touchback.

Yeah, that was terrible.

And on the replay, he touched it in the field of play.  I don't know the rules but I am thinking that is a TD in the pros.

You can’t advance a muffed punt, that’s why it was a touchback.

Right but it was muffed in the field of play (I think) and then recovered by Hoban.  I have never seen that not be a turnover.
